A former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has said restructuring alone will not help solve the numerous problems bedevilling the country.

Jonathan made this statement while speaking at the 18th Daily Trust Dialogue with the theme: “Restructuring: Why? How?” held on Thursday in Abuja.

The former president, who is the chairman of the event, said the country must come up with specific solutions to her problems.

“Discussion on restructuring will not help except we restructure our minds.

“Some of the challenges faced at the national level are still there at the state and local government levels….and sometimes even in our communities.,” he said.

According to him, Nigerians have mutual suspicions towards one another and this must be eliminated to have a better Nigeria.

“We cannot restructure without solving issues that polarize us; nepotism, ethnic and religious differences and lack of patriotism,” he posited

Well, Nigeria have always had 2 choices staring her: restructuring or totally disintegration. The failed contraption cant continue to be dragged backward by some barbarians or feudal slavemasters.

Close your mouth ogbeni.Baba once never believe in "One Nigeria" but since he been profiting from the same cause after foisting the present calamity on this nation, he dont want to hear anything about restructuring again. Why?

Tinubu fought Abacha tyranny after the cards collapse forming "Oba awón democrats" only to become a tyrant of his own.Otherwise why are the GAC members irreconcilable towards his imposing nature.

Can you all hear what our beloved ever drunk ex-President is saying? So, this is what this idiot has been going to Abuja to tell the useless Cow called Buhari. Now, tell me how we will move forward with this type of idiot called Goatluck Jonaddaft still running to Aso Rock to tell the Cow there this type of rubbish every now and then.

The whole South-West, South-Ease and South-South are saying RESTRUCTURING, even I a former Buharist have left the useless Cow in the cold, but see what Goatluck is going to tell Buhari every now and then. So, this drunk ineffectual buffoon runs to Aso Rock every two weeks to sell Southern Nigeria to the useless Almajaris in the North.

We all know there are problems down to Local Government and Wards, but is Goatluck telling us that we should not try to solve the national problems because problems are still at the grassroots? This Goatluck and other saboteurs like him will all not die well.

Why is Jonathan now preaching against restructuring? Why are you hypocrites not attacking him the way you always attack others who take similar position?

Jonathan has never known to show guts. That national conference he organized was a mere ruse that he wanted to use to win reelection, but Nigerians could see through him. Very useless man and missed opportunity for the South.

He is not preaching against it but simply telling us what we all know is true-restructuring will not solve all the problems on ground. However, we must start from somewhere e.g. the autonomous regional security outfits

Tinubu is a bloody hypocrite for once vehemently advocating for restructuring especially when he was in AD aligning himself with the Yorubas clarion call for restructuring of the federation but today he turns a blind eye towards same.

Meanwhile, Jonathan tried organizing the national confab that the APC opposed but a lots of the resolutions of that meeting are still parts of the inevitable solutions that will start the process of restructuring if @ least Nigeria wants to run a confederation state.

"Nigerians have mutual suspicions towards one another" And this shows that we are not suppose to be together as a Country and separation will be the best option to the answer and if we refused to separate in peace believe me we will surely separate in pieces
Re: Restructuring Nigeria Alone Not Enough – Jonathan by romenna: 3:22pm On Jan 21, 2021
For those who are ready to reason and not react based on emotions, GEJ is right.
If you restructure nigeria to regional governments, the current problem bedevilling the country will rear its ugly head in the regions due to the number of ethnic groups.
In delta state alone, the tension between ijaw, itshekiri and urhobo is still there. We dont hear so much abt it because of d noise from d 3 major ethnic groups - hausa, ibo n yoruba.
But when naija returns to regional govt, the hostilities will commence in full force at d regions and will surely be deadlier than anyone cud imagine. At that time, the already weak Nigerian army may not be able to confront the multiple crisis from the regions.
I think we need to review our constitution.
Let certain tins be well defined.
Buhari really showed us how useless our constitution is with his style of appointments and governance
