I'm sorry to say this sir/ma but this statement is rather ignorant because the innovation in this context means religious innovation. It's a common thing among Muslims to say the religion should stay pristine without innovation in it.

Now I see the problem is not the context but your understanding of the word "innovation". FYI in Islam innovation is two kinds. Religious innovation and general innovation. General innovation in technology, science, etc is encouraged. But innovating new ideologies into religion is condemned.

Education is the basis of Islam. A scholar called Muhammad ibn Sireen once said, "without doubt knowledge is this religion , so look from who you take your religion (knowledge).".

It is shameful hypocrisy for any learned person to separate Islam from learning and contributing positively to the society. Please learn about Islam before you judge.

As the description of that AGENCY said its to eradicate innovation and to establish sunna which in order words sunna means Sharia....then the only innovation here that sharia accepts is the innovation that only promotes Islamic faith and teachings , what then happens when you're in the same country, community, compound, office or school with someone that uses an innovation that doesn't promote Islamic faith and teaching?

For example when some Muslims celebrate the birth of Muhammad, peace be upon him, they are doing bidah (innovation ) because that action has no evidences from the companions of the prophet and earlier generations. So this organization will publicly condemn such acts by enlightening people of what is right and wrong.

I'm not associated with the organization but that's what I know about it.

Now take hisbah for example they are not targeting Muslims selling alcohol because no Muslim will sell alcohol in public but none Muslims sells alcohols in public and are being patronised publicly by none Muslims...and most times you have this law being more superior than state law....isn't that a call for concern in a supposed secular state?
