French President Nicolas Sarkozy has approved on Monday the bombing of several targets, including military camps and the Ivorian television, said UNOCI in a statement from the Elysee pretexting to stop the actions of Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo against civilians.
By early afternoon, the two military camps Akouedo, near residences have repeatedly hit as well as the Ivorian television and the residence of the Head of State and the Presidency, the symbols of the republic.
These attacks of the French army are to facilitate the takeover of the opponent Alassane Ouattara yet unsuccessful candidate in the second round of presidential elections in November 2010.
Agban gendarmerie camp had suffered in the night from Saturday to Sunday shelling from French soldiers in ambush since la casse d’Adjamé, according to a military source.
French soldiers entered directly into action on Saturday in order to forcibly oust President Laurent Gbagbo, after the failure of the pro-Ouattara rebels to take control on Friday of the Presidential Palace, the residence of the President and National Television. The rebellion, according to an adviser to President Gbagbo, was even forced to abandon the Golf Hotel, its headquarters.
In the night from Saturday to Sunday while thousands of patriots were converging toward the residence of the Head of State in Cocody and the other two bridges leading to the presidential palace in the Plateau, the French soldiers took control of the airport Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan and reinforced their presence in Côte d’Ivoire by supplying men and arms according to airport sources.

French helicopters and UNOCI are bombing all strategic sites.
Two helicopters of the French army are bombding at this moment the two military camps of the Akouédo in the Neighborhood of Cocody, said many witnesses.
“I saw two helicopters opening fire three times I ran to hide under the bed,”said to Directscoop a witness living in Riviera Palmeraie neighborhood not far from both camps. “There is smoke everywhere” said a source inside the camp saying that one of two military bases are inhabited by many families.
“My house shake, it looks more like bombs” said a frightened witness reached by telephone. According to other witnesses of the center of Cocody, “a chariot of Fds has been hit by a shell fired from a helicopter, while it’s been raining for several hours on the capital.

The first attack in Abidjan by the pro-Ouattara reels backed by their allies, ended in failure. Nicolas Sarkozy, who supports Alassane Ouattara said that “it is urgent to put an end to the crisis (Ivory Coast)” while for his foreign minister Alain Juppe “Gbagbo is living his last days of head of state. ” The presence of French soldiers (and UNOCI) alongside the rebels in the clashes, has been repeatedly denounced by the Ivorian government.
The last resolution (1975) UN voted on the initiative of France, called upon “all parties to work towards the comprehensive political solution of the African Union (AU)” and welcomed the decision (…) to appoint a High Representative for the implementation of the comprehensive political solution “by peaceful means. The resolution also urged “all parties to cooperate fully” with the High Representative.
Alassane Ouattara, with the support of his allies has rejected the High Representative appointed and engaged military hostilities immediately on all fronts in the west, center and east of the country before entering the “battle of Abidjan “together with UNOCI and Licorne against President Laurent Gbagbo.
The Constitutional Council, the highest court responsible for giving the final results according to the Ivorian laws, proclaimed and invested Laurent Gbagbo, President of the republic. This decision complies with all UN resolutions on Côte d’Ivoire, which reaffirmed the strong commitment of the organization to respect the sovereignty and independence of that country

"BOTH SIDES" of  this  long standing (10 years going on eleven) clearly have commited grevious crimes against humanity in IVORY COAST i believe that it's More the case in the North because there has been no media presence there(whether intended or not is not my brief here).
Enthroning Ouattarra by the international community will only dampn the civil war for now southern ivorieans will resent the UN & the international community for imposing a "foriener" on them .
Where i come from with such ethnic dynamic at play a much more bloddy relapse into ethnic civil war is INEVITABLE.
It just requires a number of southern bussinesmen /elite funding an uprising.
If you asked me the two and their associates(they have been obvious for ten years and so are well known) should be barred from the political scene for ethernity if need be.Between Gbabgo and Quatarra are the blood of hundreds of thousands they have no
right to seek to lead Ivorycoast.

In fact there is no ethnic war in Cote d'Ivoire. There is just France against Ivorians fighting for the dignity. The strategy used by french bigoted potilicians is to oppose Ivoirians on the ground of ethnicity. They failed flat to do that, because the ivorisn society is well blended which prevent them from such a simplistic split. Northeners/Southeners does not mean anything in Cote d'Ivoire!!! An Ivorian rarely get married within his ethnic group, so that the ivorian society appears much more like a melting-pot. The French devilish strategist try to detour that reality by recruiting mercenarians for Quattara rebel's army within the west african immigrants who turn out to be mostly mandingo from Mali, Burkina Guinea. Then this is that mandingo based rebelion army that is fighting against the regular army, and they are backed by France. Funding and weapons are graciously provided by France. On the ground France army is always fighting along with rebels.
