Rochas in trouble!
A Federal High Court in Owerri yesterday summoned All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) deputy governorship candidate in Imo State for the April 26, 2011 election, Chief Jude Agbaso for allegedly jumping bail in the aftermath of a crime committed in New York, in the United States of America.
In the suit filed on behalf of Chief George Egu (Plaintiff) against Chief Jude Agbaso, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as first   to fourth respondents respectively. Counsel to Egu, Barr. Mike Ozekhome (SAN) is praying the court to publish in two national dailies the summons to Agbaso to answer for a criminal case he committed in the United States and for jumping bail after which  a bench warrant was issued for  his arrest.
In a chat with journalists after the court session presided over by Justice Folashade Okebanjo, counsel to Egu, Barr. Mike Ozekhome (SAN) noted that Agbaso’s crime which makes him unfit for the deputy governorship position also makes Okorocha automatically unfit since the latter is his running mate.
Citing sections 185 to 199 of the Nigerian Constitution, Ozekhome commended the court for granting the motion and  fixing a full hearing for April  18, 2011.
Ozekhome also added that it would be a contravention of the 2010 Electoral as amended to allow both Agbaso and Okorocha to contest the governorship election on April 26th,
Agbaso’s crime is stated as “criminal possession of a forged instrument”.
