Africafooty:
Political Activist, Timi Frank, has called on a former Governor Lagos State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to speak up in defence of the Yoruba race now under fierce attacks by herdsmen, bandits and kidnappers.

This happened even as the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, berated President Muhammadu Buhari and Tinubu, over the recent crisis in Oyo State as well as across the Southwest and other regions of Nigeria.

Frank, in a statement in Abuja, on Monday, also decried the spate of insecurity in the country, especially in the South West, saying that Buhari and Tinubu should be held responsible for the crises.

He urged the APC leader to break his silence and speak up against the attacks in his region, saying his continued silence does not portray him as a leader who has the interest of his people at heart.

He said: “The crisis in the South-West should be solely blamed on Tinubu who foisted Buhari on Nigerians and especially on the Southwest.

“How can Tinubu continue to keep mute over the attacks in Oyo state and other Southwest states?

“Tinubu is a leader of the Yorubas in Southwest. Asiwaju cannot be silent over matters involving threats to life, peace and security of his people.

"His continued silence has become too loud, especially owing to the fact that he was the major influence and the reason the Yorubas voted massively for Buhari in 2015.

"Tinubu's silence shows he is only protecting his business interests in the South-West as well as protecting his political ambition.

“He does not want to shatter his relationship with Buhari which in turn, by his calculation, would attract the President's nod for him to have a shot at the presidency come 2023.

"But as a leader of the region, Tinubu should speak against the attacks against his people and not be driven by his selfish 2023 presidential ambition."

The Bayelsa-born activist added: “Nigeria is more divided under Buhari than it has ever been before. Buhari's government has polarised the country across religious and ethnic lines.

"This government is so clueless and incompetent that it recognises and shows a soft hand on terrorist groups like Boko Haram, killer herdsmen and bandits, but sadly mete out cruelty on innocent and patriotic Nigerians.

"Look at the number of security personnel it sent to wickedly dehumanise and arrest peaceful #EndsSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos.

“Yet, the Buhari government can't send a similar proportion of law enforcement agencies after killer herdsmen.

“Instead, the President is emboldening the terrorist groups with his direct and indirect support, even against the South-West region and the likes of Tinubu have kept silent while their people suffer."

Frank, however, urged all Nigerians and especially the leaders in the South-West to "unite and fight this common enemy."

He urged other regions to also join in the fight, warning that if the trend is allowed to fester, that sooner or later, the crisis of insecurity may grow out of proportion in every region of the country.

END

Signed:

Comrade Timi Frank
Political Activist and ex-spokesman of the APC, Abuja

I understand but am sure you won’t find one where he admonished Atiku his boss to speak out. My point is he can condemn the Fulani carnage without playing the ostrich by singling out Asiwaju to make a statement. Fulanis are not just ravaging the west but all over Nigeria

It is getting obvious these incessant herdsmen activities in the SW has a political undertone, all geared towards forcing Tinubu to make a statement to be used against him either as an 'ethnic bigot' for speaking up for Yorubas in the face of unwarranted provocations thereby making him unsellable to the North, or as a 'sellout' who couldn't speak up for his people thereby making him lose patronage at the home front. Either ways, it is a well orchestrated desperate political move, and those behind it know what's their end game.

Most people on nairaland don't think, all this attack of fulani herdsmen is politics.
If u remember during the time of GEJ boko haram was very active to the extent of planting bomb in abuja but when apc took over boko haram attack was restricted to the northeast only.
If u noticed in 2015 apc major campaign promise was to end boko haram which led to many people voting for them because pdp government was inefficient in tackling boko haram.
Now what if oppositions of the apc are using this the same tactics so that their major campaign promise will be to stop herdsmen menace which will equally lead to more vote for them as people will be looking for another party to vote since the current one is unable to stop the menace.

The Yoruba should forget the Presidential ticket in 2023. The vicious wild attacks on innocent people in Ibadan has sealed that.

No conscientious Northerner will cast vote for a Yoruba man.

The SW must be collectively punished for these gruesome murders. I will use all my energy nd resources to sell this idea to all Northerners and indeed to all Nigerians.

This is my stand too.

Tinubu no longer commands that type of followership in SW.

Though for his name sake, he ought to have spoken up in a the usual political manner of not taking sides, but make the failure of the security apparatuses the scape goats for the current trend.

That would be very palatable to his people and others in his ruling party, hearing the big English speaking Tinubu chastize the security forces.

But since he doesn't see this obvious low hanging fruits, and chose to be silent, so be it.

I'm sensing his loud silence is to anger his opposers in the north.

100% true.

Probably that’s the reason why Tinubu kept quiet.

It’s politics. Tinubu should instead offer support to the Amotekuns, Igboho, and other groups underground instead of coming to the media to speak out and fall into the political land mines they laid for him.

Even without him taking, all sides are blaming him, so why should he talk, since his talk won’t make the dead Buhari deploy soldiers to take the killer Fulani herdsmen and he’s not the commander in chief.

All this noise about Tnubu this Tinubu that is political . The ibos are playing a fast one on the Yorubas ,but the gullible one within the Yoruba didn't realise.
The offence Tinubu has against this ibo people is that he team up to remove Goodluck Jonathan from Aso rock .Since then they have not forgiven or forgot about it .When Tinubu supporters start to sing his praises that he is a political genius, a political mastermind, jagaban of Africa, those ibo clowns will tell you , is he the only one that makes it possible? They will remind you that it was the effort of the founding fathers of APC that did the work and not Tinubu. But when things go bad in the country they will shift their attention to Tinubu that he is the one that brought this calamity to their household.
Back to the main point of this write up , who are the founding fathers ? They are many 1 Tom Ikimi 2. Alh. Bubba Galadima 3. Atiku Abubakar 4. Bola Tinubu 5. Mohammodu Buhari 6. Sen. Mammora Olorunibe 7. Attahiru Bafarawa .8.Sen Ali modu Sheriff 9. Muritala Nyarko 10. Chief Bisi Akande 11. Yahaya Kwande 12. Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau 13.Ogbonaya Onu 14. Kawu Baraje
OGBONAYA ONU is also part or the founding fathers of APC that's interesting, In 2010, as National Chairman of the defunct ANPP, he initiated discussions with the leadership of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria {ACN} on how all the major opposition political parties could work together to effect change in the politics of the country.
Later he also initiated meetings with the National Chairmen of all major opposition political parties. All these efforts and many others finally resulted in the merger of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Congress for Progressive Change, (CPC), and groups from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), and the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP).
Hence on July 31, 2013, the All Progressives Congress (APC), came into existence. Dr Onu and other party leaders willingly gave up their positions as INEC withdrew the registration of ACN, ANPP and CPC. On November 26, 2013, the new PDP, broke away from the ruling political party and joined the APC. This helped make the APC, the largest opposition political party in the history of the country.
Possible Reasons Buhari returned him as minister of Science and Technology
The return of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, former minister of Science and Technology, on the ministerial list couldn’t have come as a surprise.
That means he is currently serving this demonic regime according to the children of hate, through out the biafra agitation in the east did you ever hear ibos call him out to defend them or abuse him ,did you ever hear Yorubas call him names .The ibos protect their own founding father and attack other region founding father of the same party.
Asiwaju is not in government, cannot influence policy, cannot award contract ,he does not collect salary from FG, does not attend the FEC and NEC meeting ,all this is what ogbonaya Onu does but no Igbo has for once attack him or is he not one of those that brought Buhari? Yoruba Tony, ibis is dragging your Leaders but protects one of there own. Nnamdi Kanu have been a fugitive for sometimes now did ogbonaya onu fight for him ?That mean he is selfish and does not reckon with biafra realization. Loads of people are being killed by security agents in the east did you ever hear him say pim. Fulani herdsmen kills maim ,rape their mothers, destroyed their farmlands. Ibos did not attack him or ask him to talk at least he is part of the executive council. All fixation is on Tinubu who is not even in government To make the matter worse Atiku was among the founding fathers of APC ,he was among those that brought Buhari, like in their words Tinubu brought calamity ,yet they queued behind him like zombie in 2019 general election. That goes to show you all that all that is happening now his bitter politics.
Yoruba Ronu .

It is possible some of the Fulani elite are orchestrating these attacks to frustrate the ambition of Mr Tinubu. But it is also possible that these events are simply what they are and are in no way political.

We must try as much as possible to not see anything and everything through the lens of politics else we become exactly like Messrs Tinubu and co who believe anything bad that happens to them is as a result of their enemies not as q consequence of their obvious incompetence and serious lack of leadership.

As a Yoruba man, I have never regarded Mr Tinubu as a leader of the Yoruba people. As much as we live in strange times, I for one can ascertain what a true leader is and is not. It is not to say he has not been an effective politician in these times but it has been to the detriment of his constituency. I believe we as Yorubas can do better than Tinubu, and I hope Yorubas will not fall into the trap of we versus them into voting enmasse for him. He has sold out and he will continue to do so if elected to higher office, in a bid to please all those who brought him to power as witnessed with his over 20 year rule of Lagos state.

As always, the only real solution to the problems we have is splitting Nigeria. The Igbo is not the same as the Yoruba nor is the Yoruba same as the Northern folk. We must first split for each of us to have any hope at achieving something.
