The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday said the outcome of the blockade of foodstuff from the North to the Southern part of Nigeria has demonstrated the fact that Nigerians need each other to survive.

Northern traders lost millions of naira and sold their farm produce at ridiculously low prices as a result of the four-day blockade while the amounts of foodstuffs such as cattle, yam also skyrocketed in the South.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Yekini Nabena, the APC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary said the event has underscored the need for unity between the north and south.

According to him “It is a two-way thing. Everybody needs each other. The north needs the south and the south needs the north. Yes, cattle and agricultural products come mostly from the north but there things that also come from the south to the north”.
“As a farmer, if you harvest your tomato which we all know is a perishable product and then you are blocking it, who is going to buy them from you? Or how do you preserve it from getting spoilt?”

“Can you produce it and then sell it to yourself? Let us stop deceiving ourselves as we have been witnessing on social media”.
“The south also have products that the north also needs. So, we both need ourselves. Some people are just trying to make themselves relevant for nothing while we all know the truth”.

Nonsense. SW owns the market, there are so many neighboring countries with products in need of that market. Yorubas don't travel to neither north nor east to buy a thing, they bring it down to us to rather take advantage of the market we have. What that should tell you is that, anyone with product, produce is free to bring to our market, there are so many out there in search of this market, they will easily and quickly take advantage of norths' stupidity. The only reason why north got away with this is simply because we are in same country. If not, the market would have been lost by now.

Man does all he can to deal with anything that threatens his survival. So if Hausa decides not to sell tomato, beans, groundnut, yam and cow to the south (because i see nothing else that is important they produce), we will hang out boots and kick the bucket?

See ignorance! which govt give incentives for farming. You mean all these NIRSAL & CBN money given to govt fraudsters in the name of farming?
