She's Been MIA.. by AnonymustME(m): 12:23am On Mar 06, 2021
There's this friend I met on Instagram about 3 years ago, we had gotten quite close and moved the conversation from Instagram to Whatsapp..after a while we started talking on the phone. We would make plans of meeting up but something always came up and after a while we stopped trying to meet. The friendship was thriving quite well without meeting. She would tell me how stressful it is to handle the teenagers she taught at a boarding high school in satellite town and I'll tell her how much I enjoyed teaching as a corp member and how most of the students liked me and called me "uncle Falz" because they thought there was a resemblance.
Around May last year I noticed she had been MIA for a while. Her phone number wasn't reachable, whatsapp messages weren't delivering and there was no activity on her Instagram. I just assumed she probably lost her phone and contact with her social media account. Months went by and I'll remember her every now and then but this is someone who I had no mutual friends with so there wasn't anyone I could ask about her. But then it's not unusual to take such breaks from social media and all the chaos...I do it all the time, in fact I took a break from August last year till February this year after a personal loss that shook my world...so it wasn't unusual.
After returning to instagram I had an idea to message some of her 100+ followers to ask if they know her personally and/or if they know her whereabouts. I didn't get any reply until today. It turns out the school she taught at was one of the closest buildings to the gas line explosion that happened in Abule ado on March 15th 2020. Most of the school buildings crumbled. Sigh, she's been dead for almost a year. One thing that infuriates me so much is the fact that there's no mention of her name in any of the publications online no acknowledgement, all that's mentioned is the late principal who is said to have died saving students. This is my tribute to my late friend Ofure Omosefe. You didn't deserve to die like that. Rest in peace dear ️

Friendship that should have transcended borders if she still had little time left in this curel world.
Your story is painfully heart-touching. May her good soul rest in peace and you will see your good friend again one day. Jesus said: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” (John 5:28, 29)
