PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OF THE ACTION CONGRESS OF NIGERIA (ACN), MALLAM NUHU RIBADU.

[size=14pt]YOLA, April 11, (THEWILL) – The Presidential flag bearer of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu suffered an embarrassing defeat in his homestate Adamawa in last Saturday’s National Assembly election.

According to the final results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday, Ribadu lost his Senatorial district and two other Senatorial dirstricts to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The ACN managed to secure only two Federal Constituency seats out of eight seats in play allowing the PDP take five and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) winning one seat.[/size]

In Adamawa-Central, a former Director General of the National Boundary Commission, Dahiru Bobbo of the Labour Party was trounced by PDP’s Bello Tukur.

Tukur, a former Deputy Governor, who is currently the Chief of Staff to Governor Murtala Nyako, polled 95, 806 votes to beat Bobbo, who scored 78, 424 votes. Fatima Abubakar, a former ambassador and retired permanent secretary and candidate of the ACN, came third with 63, 271 votes.

In Adamawa North Senatorial Dictrict, Bindo Jibrilla (PDP) defeated a former governor of the state, Mr. Boni Haruna (ACN) with more than 5, 000 votes. Jibrilla polled 75, 112 votes, while Haruna of the ACN scored 70, 890 votes. The candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Abba Mohammed, scored 22, 866 votes in the contest to replace incumbent Senator Mohammed Mana.

In the Adamawa South senatorial race, Ahmed Barrata (PDP) emerged winner defeating his rivals.

The ACN however won in Michika/Madagali where its candidate Ganama Titsi defeated PDP's Binta Masi-Garba with 36, 033 votes. Masi-Garba had served three terms at the House of Assembly. He polled 24, 520 votes.

The ACN also won in Gombi/Hong, where its candidate, Haske Hananiya defeated the incumbent Emmanuel Bello (PDP). Hananiya polled 34, 529 while Bello polled 18, 070 votes.

The CPC won in Mubi-North/Mubi-South.

[size=14pt]Meanwhile, the state Governor, Murtala Nyako has assured President Goodluck Jonathan of more than 80 per cent of Adamawa votes in Saturday's presidential election.

The governor made the pledge in Yola in a chat with journalists over the outcome of the NASS election.

"Even against our own son, Atiku Abubakar, we voted for Jonathan. We have no reason to reject him on Saturday. We appeal to the people of Adamawa State to vote massively for him. We assure 75 per cent of the votes or even up to 95 per cent," the governor added.

Nyarko expressed joy that the PDP did well by retaining the three senatorial seats and at least five House of Reps seats.[/size]

"For us in Adamawa, this is a good performance. It is a good result. This is how an election should be and I am very happy for the free and fair election. Nobody prevented anybody from casting votes; moreso, each vote counted.

"The turnout was impressive," Nyarko added.

You may wish to extend that to vice president sambo for losing his own ward too despite moving to kaduna 10 days ahead  of the election and also to jonathan for allowing CPC to win inside the presidential villa.

If there are tribal voters in the villa so be it. . however GEJ won the FCT. .

You be real olodo. . .the presidential villa stretches from Aso drive , NASS , supreme court to federal secretariat and at the other side from the Power house junction to the main gate of the presidential villa.So where did you think people living in this vicinity vote on saturday ? asokoro or maitama ?

The  Special Adviser on Media to luck Jonathan, Ima Niboro, on Sunday, said contrary to the news that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost in the senatorial election held at the polling unit at Aso Rock Villa on Saturday, [size=14pt]there were no wards in the presidential villa[/size].

Niboro, who arrived the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, in company with President Jonathan, said the report of the loss of the ruling party in the villa was not true.

[size=14pt]His words: “There are no wards in the presidential villa. So, there is no basis for that and the president’s own ward at Otuoke, Bayelsa State, PDP won resoundingly. We won the ward and the local governments results are being collated now. We won in all the wards and the polling booths at all levels. So, we need to clarify things."[/size]

When asked to assess Saturday’s elections, Niboro said that with the pattern the election had taken, it showed that Nigerians really wanted true democracy.

“The outcome of the election shows that Nigerians are yearning for true democracy and they are in a quest for one man, one vote and it’s working. Nigerians are ready for democracy and we must commend the president for being forthright about this. He’s determined to make sure that Nigerians’ votes count.”
