President Goodluck Jonathan, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, broke into the stronghold of the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the south-west, in yesterday’s presidential election.

In Lagos State, the president reportedly garnered about 80 percent of the votes cast in the poll.

The situation was, according to early results, not substantially different in other states of the zone: Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti and Ogun.

President Jonathan casting his vote at Otoabula Ward 013, Otueke in Ogbia Local Government , Bayelsa state Saturday.

The ACN candidate in the poll, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and his CPC counterpart, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, were said to be running neck-on neck for a distant second position in Lagos.
Another highlight of the poll in the state showed that the vice presidential candidate of the CPC, Pastor Tunde Bakare, lost at his Opebi Polling Unit, scoring 91 votes as against Jonathan’s 181.

The fate of Ribadu, Vice President Namadi Sambo and the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, was not any better as they were reportedly beaten at their polling units in Adamawa, Kaduna and Kano States respectively.

Shekarau was rejected at Unit 022 Giginyu ward where he voted as he earned 89 votes to the 337 votes and 61 votes respectively polled by the CPC and the PDP.

Ribadu lost the presidential election at his polling unit in Yola to the CPC.

Buhari, on his part, easily won in his polling unit at Sarkin Yara ward in Daura,Katsina State where he voted. Buhari swept 494 of the 501 votes cast leaving the ANPP with 4, ACN 2 and PDP with no vote. One vote was voided in his unit.

The CPC candidate was also coasting home to victory in other parts of Katsina, as well as Kaduna, Kano, Niger, Borno and Sokoto States.

Senate President David Mark, several PDP governors and ministers delivered their wards for the president.

At the Aso Rock polling unit, Jonathan broke the jinx that had seen the incumbent not winning elections at the State House. The president won hands down there.

The media , as Jonathan cast his vote in Bayelsa.

Lagos landslide
Early results from most of the 8,465 polling units in Lagos State showed Jonathan as garnering about 80 per cent of the total votes cast.

For instance, in four polling units close to Navy Town, Ojo, the PDP polled 933 votes compared to ACN (38), CPC (87) and ANPP (3). Also in five polling booths in Oluti area of Lagos, the PDP had 968 votes, CPC-154, ACN-77 and ANPP -2

From seven polling units at Kuje Amuwo, around the Oba Palace, the PDP scored 1,246 ballots, CPC had 162, ACN scored 119 votes while ANPP had 7 votes.

ACN gave it up to PDP’s Jonathan in Unit G3, Surulere, where the results are as follows: PDP 141, ACN 77, CPC 90.

Vice presidential candidate of the CPC, Bakare, lost at his Opebi polling unit, scoring 91 votes.

PDP polled a total of 181 votes, ACN 53, while the candidates of  FDP and ANPP polled 17 and 3 votes respectively.

Presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party, NCP, Bashorun Dele Momodu, also lost the election at his Ward 10 unit 24 at Wasimi Community High School where he cast his vote for Jonathan.

The results show that the PDP polled 177 votes, CPC 65, ACN 41 and NCP 1.

In Abeokuta, Ogun State, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Gbenga Daniel were able to deliver their booths to the PDP presidential candidate. In Obasanjo’s booth, the PDP scored 100 votes to the 63 scored by the ACN while 18 votes were voided. In Daniel’s booth, PDP scored 237, ACN 92 and CPC 3.

Former Governor Segun Osoba, however, reversed the trend as he delivered his booth to the ACN presidential candidate with 142 votes. PDP scored 55and CPC 1.

Mark, govs, ministers give it to Jonathan
Mark delivered his polling unit at the Otukpo Country Club to Jonathan where the PDP polled 256 votes while the CPC scored 31 votes and the ACN 6.

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State delivered all the votes in his Unit 1, Ward 6,  Abigborodo in Warri North local government area  to the president, according to information that got to Sunday Vanguard from INEC electoral officials.

Uduaghan, who was happy with the 100 per cent vote in his unit, asked voters to sustain the tempo in the April 26 governorship election.

The authenticated result was  being awaited at press time.

The governor’s main rival in the election, Chief Great Ogboru of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, was also learnt to have voted for Jonathan.
Reports from Benue State said Governor Gabriel Suswam broke a 32-year old jinx at the Government House polling booth when the PDP won the presidential election contrary to what obtained since the creation of the state when the opposition had persistently won there.

The PDP polled a total of 299 votes to beat its closest rival, the CPC, which polled 80 votes while the ACN had 17 votes.

There were strong indications that the PDP was ahead of other political parties in the presidential election in Akwa Ibom State amid reports that most opposition parties supporters in some parts of the state cast their votes for the PDP.

In Ondo, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Labour Party, LP, gave majority of the votes cast at his Ladasa Ward Zone II, Ago Itunu, Yaba to Jonathan.

The president scored 227 votes there to ACN’s 12 and CPC’s 6.

Businessman Jimoh Ibrahim also won his Majokolasan Open Space Ward 2, Igbotakun for Jonathan. At the ward, the president had 180 votes, Ribadu 12, Shekarau 2, Buhari 1.

The ministers who delivered their polling units for the president include those of finance, Olusegun Aganga, (Lagos) and education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi (Delta).

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, also delivered his polling unit in Lagos.

Gbagi delivered his Oginibo polling unit in Ughelli area of Delta.

The 398 persons that voted there cast their votes for Jonathan and, in the entire 11 units, the minister told Sunday Vanguard, last night, “Everybody voted for President Jonathan”.

According to Gbagi, “You should not have expected anything less.  I cannot be a Minister in President Jonathan’ government and my people who have been supporting me all these years will vote for another person. It is 100 per cent”.

Jonathan breaks jinx at Aso Rock
The president broke the eight years election failure jinx at the Aso Rock polling unit, Presidential Villa as he beat Buhari.

In the result posted by officials of INEC,  Jonathan scored a total of 1,232 votes as against Buhari’s 696 votes.

Only last week, the PDP lost the National Assembly elections at the polling unit to the CPC. The late President Umaru Yar’Adua and his predecessor, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, had, at different times, lost elections in the same polling unit.

Voters at Maraba, Abuja, Saturday.

Sambo as two-time loser
For the second time since the general elections began, Vice President Namadi Sambo, the PDP vice presidential candidate, also, yesterday, lost the presidential election at his polling unit in Kaduna.

His PDP was roundly beaten at the unit at the penultimate Saturday National Assembly polls.

At the Camp Road Polling Unit, Kabala Doki, Kaduna, hundreds of youthful voters climbed trees, fences, empty barrels,  as others formed a thick wall around election officials counting votes cast at the presidential election. Suddenly, there was an eruption of ecstatic cry of joy.

The electoral officer had just announced the result of the election in the unit. Buhari scored 435 votes, Jonathan 208 while  all the other political parties scored 13.

Buhari shoots into lead in Katsina, five other states
Reports from Katsina, Kano, Niger, Borno, Kaduna and Sokoto states indicated that Buhari had shot into early lead in the result of the presidential election in the states.
Analysts said the result so far from Katsina was not unexpected as Buhari hails from there.

It was big upset for the PDP in Niger where the ruling PDP even lost at Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu’s polling unit.
At Peter Sarki Polling Unit where Aliyu voted, CPC scored 367 votes as against PDP’s 320.

At the Uphill centre which is the polling unit of former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida,  CPC polled 373 as against 177 for the PDP.
Reports from Gidan-ci-dawa Polling Unit of the deputy governor, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto, showed that PDP also lost scandalously there with eight votes to that of  CPC which had 450.
So far, out of the eight results declared in Niger, Buhari won in seven polling units as against PDP victory in one unit.

"Pointblanknews.com also learnt that in most polling stations in Lagos, Ogun and Oyo, Jonathan of the PPD is ahead.
The PDP seems set to win with a wide margin in South South, North Central, South East, South West, and most parts of the North Central and North West.

It seems the meeting between Action Congress leader, Bola Tinubu and Jonathan may have yielded fruits.

The plot was for the AC to deliver the President while the AC will pick Oyo and Ogun , sacrificing Bayo Akala and Gen. Tunji Olurin."

I BELIEVE THIS THOUGH IT IS FROM POINTBLANKNEWS- WHO ARE SHIITYY. why is ACN not making noise about the low number of votes being counted in the SW?
