Heavy Shootings On Enugu-Abakaliki Highway by SATANICALLY666: 7:20pm On Apr 20, 2021
The movement of vehicles and passengers along the Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway has been halted following heavy shootings at the Ezilo axis of the highway by suspected gunmen.

As of the time of filing this report, it was not immediately clear those responsible for the shootings.

The PUNCH reports that two persons were killed in a renewed boundary dispute between Eziulo community and its neighbouring Iyionu community, in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Equally, it could not be immediately established if the shooting is connected with the dispute.

A passenger from Enugu, who was billed for Abakaliki, Afam Cyprian, said travellers have been stranded at Okpoto for about one hour.

He said military patrol vans were patrolling the highway but have told them not to advance.

“Many people are looking for another route to take. Some have gone back to take Afikpo road. I am looking for a way to go back to Abakaliki,” he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Loveth Odah, confirmed the shootings.

Odah said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Aliyu Garba, had dispatched police patrol teams to restore peace and open up the road for users.

She, however, said the shooting cannot be related to the boundary dispute as the disputed area is not close to the highway

Governor David Umahi had on Tuesday, confirmed the killing of two persons in the dispute after a Security Council meeting at the old Government House in Abakaliki.

Ant infested firewood has found its way into the house despite warnings.

Now it is military checkpoint instead of police checkpoint.

The problem with this their "unknown gunmen" propaganda now is that the soldiers targets are unknown.

Where are ESN now or I guess the unknown cowards have all taken to their heels.

For several decades, Abakaliki has been renowned for gratuitous violence. Back in the day, cutlasses were routinely used to settle differences by the good folks of Abakiliki, but as technology evolved, assault rifles and RPG launchers became the weapons of preference.

If an Abakiliki man challenges you to a fight, you had better try and cover as much distance as possible in as short a time as possible, without looking back, as that would slow down your escape.

they said they do not want checkpoint at every pole.

Fighting over land in the east is something else. During my little stay last year in Anambra state, I witnessed a lot of clashes over land between two neighbouring communities Omor and Umoumbo, Omasi and Ifirte, Omor and Igbakwu, Omor and Annaku. I am still baffled why such is happening....

Believe it or not Nigeria is burning .... Having ethnic and tribal wars here isn't helping at all. If this country becomes so ungovernable for the government, it's better voices of the people be listened to.

We can't be showering each other hate while forcing unity at the same time.

That's IGALA people who are trying to reclaim their lands from Igbos in Anambra. You know, IGALAS are the true owners of ANAMBRA STATE.
