Well, that's true.. Poverty is a weapon that these politicians use to achieve their evil aims.. While war on poverty may be important, rehabilitation of the miscreants on the streets too is another thing... I know someone who's really poor but they don't go around with arms threatening the peace of the nation.. It starts with the mind

You said rehabilitation? Na office them don open for police to extort people that are truly homeless.

The elites are just having a time of their life soon the poor will eat them for breakfast. Many currently are homeless.

At the last check Nigeria needs more than 17 million units of housing to address the housing problem in Nigeria and on top of that most estates in Ikoyi and Lekki are vacant. Some have been vacant since the day it was built.

War on poverty is the only thing that can reduce insecurity. Boko haram is going around paying families in the north and you think you can end it by tightening security measures?

Bruv, we can and must try every possible solutions. When the Northern elites mire their own people in poverty and almajirism, as a deliberate policy to keep them subdued, how can the South do anything about that?

Will Sanwo Olu go and be building schools and providing jobs in the North?

Sometimes you can only focus on what you control because you cannot control the action or will of others.

How to eradicate miscreants naturally

Build affordable housing units for poor

Invest stolen funds from corrupt politicians into human developments

Simple truth is that Lagos cannot even rehabilitate it's own poor talk less of the many thousands trooping in from the North and even from outside Nigeria daily.

Those in that category are likely the target of this policy because of the insecurity of Nigeria currently and because, obviously, they may be 'sleeper cells' waiting for instruction to carry out a nefarious agenda.

If you know you know. Everyone should be vigilant.

Bruv, this is not targeted at the usual miscreants we have always lived with in Lagos.

This is not a social policy. It is a security initiative.

"Lagos State Government has observed with dismay the security challenges in the Nation at large and clearly understands the danger posed by the likely spread of this ugly situation to our dear State", he said.

Brother it's not just the problem of the north. Until there's a genuine effort to raise the economic well-being of the average Nigerian we will continue to have this problem.

Alot of people have been excluded economically. They are not part of the system that we run. They are just waiting for an opportunity to forcefully take from the commonwealth of their motherland.

So it's in the interest of the elites to see that an average Nigerian can be gainfully employed and contribute their quota to nation building.

A friend of mine in Texas rejected offers from FedEx, Ups within a space of two weeks and decided to take up a position with Amazon. An average Nigerian. No be say him na one genius. He told me that if all the Nigerian unemployed graduates relocate to Texas they won't still fill all the vacant positions.

God bless you for this... They just opened office for police to extort people that are truly homeless.

Most estates in Lekki and Ikoyi are vacant. No legislation to make it illegal because it will affect them. They should keep doing rubbish the day is coming when the army of the poor will have them for breakfast

I see your point and totally agree with you as per long term solutions to the issue of youth restiveness, hopelessness and casual criminality amongst young Nigerians everywhere.

Yet this is not about that at all. It is about short-term solution to a very serious security menace the likes of which Nigeria has never seen before.

Let Governors be up and doing to secure the lives of all of us so we can promote and fight for the policies you advocate in safer and more secure times.

For now it is the right move and it is aimed at ensuring potential killers, murderers and terrorists do not have anywhere to hide amongst us.

They should even follow up with a publicly announced hotline for Lagosians to report suspicious movements and gatherings in abandoned buildings. The situation we are in, the present Government is feigning ignorance of, is no joke.

Self-help will be a big factor if we are to all survive this period as the FG is simply not interested in taking action to protect us.

Sir, are you from Lagos with the genuine interest of the State at heart? How can you say "LASG is not serious at all" ?

We all see the very severe security challenges we are facing , with Nigerians dying daily in numbers that would prompt immediate declaration of state of emergency in sane nations, while Buhari and his ruling cabal act as if all is normal.

What part of "you are on your own" body language of Buhari do you not understand that prevents you from seeing why Lagos is doing this?

You have never heard of the saying "desperate times calls for desperate measures"?

It is not everything we have to play partisan politics, ethnic jingoism or sectional discrimination with.

Every State should do similar so we begin identifying, as we naively failed to do before , the movement of strangers amongst us before they strike at us fatally.

Hope they will look into that massive abandon building when going to Iyana Era at Lagos Badagry express road.

My point is that there is no phone number to call so as to report such cases.
