Benin should think carefully if Oduduwa, and Biafra were actualized, what would happen to them.

It is no longer news that Nigeria banned the import of rice and some other goods coming into the country from Benin republic which of course had dealt a serious blow on the economy of this small west African nation .

But with Sunday Igboho arrest and knowing how far Buhari could go to lay his hands on the Yoruba nation freedom fighter, The Benin republic government may want to go on a round table negation with the Nigerian government to trade the Yoruba nation agitator for full Benin republic and Nigerian border re-opening.

My opinion tho .
Rubbish reasoning

If they do that, they'll create enemy with their neighbour. Buhari will leave in 2023 but Yoruba will stay as their neighbour forever.

They will only shot themselves in the leg. The negotiation will definitely not be fulfilled by Nigerian government. Nigeria will default after the deal.....

Buhari will not open that border.

He is even comfortable with you keeping him.

....as long as he is not a free man before and throughout 2023.

The Beninise government is already reciprocating that same gesture by imposing a compulsory levy of 6.5million naira on every truck with product/goods heading to Nigeria... Some traders here in Nigeria are already suffering/lamenting because most of those goods were supposed to be sold off during the Sallah period.

You talking of a Nigerian government which is evil, deceitful and one which does not keep to agreements. Anyone who dines with a Tiger, even with a long spoon, will sooner or later finds himself in the belly of the Tiger.

What will it benefit you if he's not extradited to Nigeria?. If he's guilty or not the court will judge let him come back and face the law. He has been beating his chest for long that no Government can arrest him and people were hailing him.

Without the border being opened, Benin Republic has survived.

In 2020, Benin Republic banned herdsmen from entering their country. When herdsmen flouted this order, the Beninoise military killed plenty of their cows and herdsmen who tried to fight were also killed. While this was going on, Sunday Igboho was in the bush, staving off attacks from Fulani herdsmen.

Right from the NADECO days, the Cotonou route has been popular among those being victimised by the government, it is nothing new.

If the government wants to be foolish, let them try nonsense with Benin and draw the ire of France. That way, Buhari would have had spats with US, UK, France, Israel and Canada. This means Buhari has had issues with 3 Members out of the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council.

The funny thing with Buhari's government, Nigerians and agitations is that when next a southerner gets into control of the presidency, they will still misuse power like Obasanjo and Jonathan did.

Northerners will always favour the north, what I don't know is the problem with political leaders from the South.

Next time when quoting, direct your questions to me and stop involving others.

To your question, the first benefit is for Igboho himself..

Buhari can't do Igboho a thing than putting him in prison while his charges would be presented to him, which law he broke and minimum years of sentencing

That's where the negotiation will come in from both Igboho and FG before considering is bail condition.

The SW political leaders can not allow Igboho to be incarcerated for long considering the region's ambition about 2023..

Why is Igboho afraid of being repatriated to Nigeria?

If Igboho had been allowed to interfere in the farmers/herdsmen crisis, the case would have been escalated by now by bringing more confusion and chaos while Igboho would have absconded this same way...

And to add to your point
If igboho is found guilty for obtaining fake international Benin republic passport, he may get longer jail term over there than in Nigeria.

Which border negotiation?

Benin Republic are instead playing along with Nigeria...

How can the Benin prison officers put Igboho on shackles if they are in support of him?

Lol that's diplomacy and non-aligned tactics. Benin Republic would have sent him here since if they do not hold a protective obligatorily view. They will never send him to Nigeria. Obviously they have a proper understanding of the issues than before now. They know he is being unjustly persecuted and are aware that these demons that call themselves FG have less than 3 years to go. Thinking they would strain their relationship with Yorubas who are mostly their kith is impossible.

They must however not appear to be on his side to the press outrightly like that. Igboho will be most likely sentence there but it's actually to indirectly offer him protection & mild exile. By the time Buhari and his minions fizzle out, he will return more popular, loved and influential than ever before. He's going to be a guest of Benin government for now.

Igboho is not being tried for possession of a fake passport, that is why his trial is in secret and that is why those bandit-sponsors are gnashing their teeth across the border.
