YAF: Yoruba Group Rejects Yoruba Nation, Petitions United Nations by DefHQ: 7:57am On Aug 03, 2021
A group, the Yoruba Appraisal Forum (YAF) on Monday, petitioned the United Nations over the plan by the umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, to present a petition against the Nigerian government at the 76th General Assembly of the UN.

The petition was served to the UN alongside its five permanent members: the European Union, the African Union and representatives of other countries.

In the document, YAF urged the UN and its other recipients to bar Ilana Omo Oodua and its allies from attending the UNGA where it planned on presenting a petition against the Federal Government of Nigeria.

According to the group, the petition in question was written to destabilise the country.

The statement reads: “the ultimate objective of this plan by the group is to achieve nothing salutary or beneficial to the people of Nigeria but to further their evil design to undermine and bring down the country and the incumbent administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, out of sheer malice over the forthcoming 2023 general elections.”

Signed by YAF National Coordinator, Adeshina Animashaun, the petition further accused Ilana Omo Oodua of funding “the violent activities of the self-styled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, currently undergoing trial in the Benin Republic.

Hypocrites and good for nothing set of people. Just for how much are you willing to sell and betray your brothers and sisters just like Judas?

Of course they won't use non Yorubas to betray Yorubas; na who no man dey do man.

At the end of the day we still shop in the same market, suffer the same inflation and sleep with one eye open because of the threats posed by Fulani maruders in the night...

Groups plenty everywhere
chrisvic007:
Those saying Yoruba is divided are very wrong. In any society, this kind of situation is quite normal. There will be voices of dissent here and there but the majority and the most articulate will have their way.

The Yoruba nation has moved miles ahead of this group and the petition in question is slated to be presented on 23rd August and there is nothing anybody can to about that, not even Putin - the much talked about most powerful man in the world.

At the end it would be debated and decisions would be taken by the UN.

Kudos to the Yoruba nation for the educated, diplomatic and legal ways they have adopted for their struggles unlike the cave men that are killing their kith and kin because they want "fleedom"
exactly bro
Well said
Everyone should have a voice

Hungry people everywhere who are looking for attention....that's why I can't join any group If I don't know the motive behind the creation of such a group...
Most groups will come out innocent and pious but the motive behind such group is to. form a political party towards supporting the political ambition of a particular person...

Let see how these lead us to...

Most of the time Yoruba groups become a laughing stock in the eyes of another tribe because there is no cooperation and sincerity of purpose...they call us a traitor, betrayal. and backstabber just because of the sinister motive of some few people...
With these, nobody will. take us seriously and it is easier for the enemies to conquer such land when there is no unity and cooperation among them...
For Fulani jihadists to conquer the entire Yoruba race in Nigeria, all they need to do is just to align themselves with the Yoruba opposition group and you will. see Fulani caliphate in all the southwest region...this was what was done in Ilorin that made them conquer the entire land in Kwara state ....now, they can conquer the entire Yoruba race in the southwest as easy and quick because they know the weak point

Yoruba Traitors are always around like the green grass with its green snakes.

Truth is that Fulanis are behind this movement which is meant to generate traction by DSG Amina Mohammad of UN. All is to frustrate Igboho people movement that is supported by God and yorubas

I have begged and will continue to plead; secession is not a small thing and not the solution to Nigeria's woes.

Every entity from a broken secession often risks civil war. South Sudan is a clear case. Be warned!!! If the South West secede and there's civil war within that small region, where do we run to. No one is ready for that madness. I repeat Be warned!!!

I am beginning to think that these calls for secession are the work of opposition parties, when not in power. They use it as a tool to divide and it is glaring to see. My uncle who is resident in the US and pro PDP would bombard my WhatsApp with all this secession calls, messages and videos of propaganda and what not.

We know Nigeria is not working as it should, but secession is not the way to solve it.

Patriotism is dead.
