Good one, the Law Should also sanction media houses and social media influencers that (re)broadcast such.

You have a state of origin, take this beautiful advice to them there let them too do something. You can't all be useless in your state and only exist to criticise Lagos.
Nice one bro

Very good law. We also need a law that compulsorily mandates police to notify or allow a detained suspect to notify their families on phone call within 1 hour after arrest. It should be illegal for police to detain any suspect without nobody knowing the person is in police custody, otherwise that is equivalent to kidnapping. Anybody detained by police must be allowed to talk to their families or relatives to inform them of their whereabouts that they are in police custody and which station they are being detained. Any violation of this law should attract immediate dismissal and imprisonment for the police violators involved. Why is there no political will by the FG to reform its police; why?
Because the police is a tool for elite oppression .

Ok they should stop parading suspected Herdsmen & Boko Haram members? Same hypocrites will shout tomorrow that President Buhari is trying to hide their identity? Nigerian lawyers are corrupt rodents, no different from their so called political class of bandits. Evans the Billion Kidnapper even took the Federal Government to an Appeals Court, I guess it was a medical doctor that was handling the case for him? NBA association of corrupt criminals & thieves.
You are not with us,I beg shift commot for road!

A police station in any state is Federal Government purview, no state law has jurisdiction there.
The legal icons have not told us so and you are not one of them; You must be one of those low live police officers arresting and tagging innocent people criminal.

Are these laws not already in place in the Nigerian constitution?
There are already there but the magistrate, human right groups and state attorney generals are too lazy to enforce them.
Re: Lagos Bans Media Parading Of Suspects by Vulcan24(m): 3:49pm On Aug 22, 2021
The law can do little to restrain police action, the word policing is too broad to accommodate restriction and precaution.

Even in saner climes, acting by the book sometimes cost police their lives and sometimes the best judgement is just to act based on your circumstances or instinct

Nigeria is a sorry case, police are overly extra judicial and have no respect, training or equipment to deal with crime or arrest

They are mostly enforcers.

That is why policemen should be heavily punished by law here and a heavy sanction imposed on them for a slight flagrant of civil rights

Police is subject to Federal law, & can never succumb to a state law, it is null & void ab initio & of no effect whatsoever. This law is only applicable to maybe Amoekun, Lastma & co.
You no go school !Why are States using the police to enforce her own law?

This is good and bad at the same time.
Good in the sense that the privacy and security of suspects are protected. Bad in the sense that police mostly arrest and parade innocent citizens and the families or friends of such persons only get to know when such persons are paraded.

I don't just know whether to commend or condemn the act
Re: Lagos Bans Media Parading Of Suspects by MrTuns: 7:18pm On Aug 22, 2021
Read the contents of the post. The bill also stipulates that suspects be given facilities to contact family members or their lawyer immediately after arrest

Centre of excellence.

since Nigeria police is a law to itself we need more human rights lawyers to re educate the force. Also to do same to the arabic and religous radical appointees.

major problem with Nigeria is that power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Power drunkeness : this goes for police ak47 , army ak47, governors (money), senators(moey) and president. too much power is concentrated or given. this is not a true democracy, which is surposed to people driven or people's rule or a Demos kratos in Greek. ie demos= people. Kratos= rule.
Nigeria is opposite.
