It's easy to see the east is becoming the land of tourism, entertainment, and liesure and will be in the coming years as eastern states finish their ambitious tourism projects.

Ibom Tropicana
Tinapa
Oguta Wonderlake
Enugu Golf City
Delta liesure park

work in the west, rest in the east is looking like the future for the east/west dynamic in nigeria.

Err. You are a bit slow, I guess. When did Delta State become part of the "East"?

Also, who are you calling an "ape"? Pray tell, what exactly do you mean by that?

Depends on what the OP means by East. Some parts of Delta State may be regarded as East though. However, I don't think its something to bicker about.
Re: East Becoming The Land Of Liesure. by ektbear: 8:35am On May 23, 2011
^-- What do you mean by that? I thought East was a reference to the "Eastern Region" of old.

Otoh, if you are using "East" as a synonym for Igboland, then several of those locations discussed in the OP are not in the "East"

Coolu temper Ekt bear, ah ah cos he said delta is in east thats why you are in your warrior mode?
Re: East Becoming The Land Of Liesure. by ektbear: 8:41am On May 23, 2011

Which warrior mode? There are certain holes in my knowledge of Nigerian history. I seek only to gain understanding of when Delta became part of "the East."

Re: East Becoming The Land Of Liesure. by AndreUweh(m): 7:27pm On May 23, 2011
When we talk about The East, we mean the old Eastern Region and Igbo areas of Delta State.

Don't sweat it, this is common ibo theme, leeching ways and delusions, they'll claim Ijebu Igbo and Makurdi if you allow them, this is a sad reflection of their insecurity and inability to stand on their own 2 feet.

Why have some posters here lost their articulatory ability? Ekt-Bear, u of all people should know what "East" means and what "South East" and "South South" means. Let me help you in geographical/ political terms;

South East = Part of the East = Part of the former Eastern region.

South South = Part of the East = Part of the former Eastern region.

East = South East + South South = Full Eastern region.
Re: East Becoming The Land Of Liesure. by ektbear: 12:19am On May 24, 2011
@Eko Ile: No, I know exactly what they are doing, heh. You are 100% correct.

@dem_people: Two of the states in the current SS were never part of the "Eastern region." They were in fact part of a Midwest Region that morphed into Bendel state. So it is simply erroneous to call either of Edo or Delta part of "the East."

As Africa’s ‘Biggest’ Theme Park Berthes in Udu
ROLAND OGBONNAYA
14 Dec 2010

It was like a carnival. Why not when the Olere community in Udu local government area of Delta State has not witnessed in a very long time the galaxy of government functionaries that converged on their community. The even was the groundbreaking ceremony of the Delta State leisure park located at Olere in Udu local council of the state. When completed, the park is expected to be one of the largest and biggest in Africa.

To the Olere community and other surrounding communities the proposed theme park by
Sarner PFM Nigeria Ltd, which is part of the United Kingdom-based Sarner Group, was a dream come through, because for decades, the sleepy community has been neglected when it comes to infrastructural development.

Sarner wins Nigerian leisure resort contract
Paul Milligan, March 29, 2011

Sarner PFM (Africa) and Sarner UK are working together to design and create the ‘Delta Leisure Resorts’, a tourism and leisure facility being built in the Warri and Asaba Cities of Delta State, Nigeria. The resort covers over 150 hectares in each city and is estimated to cost 49 billion Naira (£167.4 million), and will be the first of its kind in West Africa.

The main park, located 20 minutes from the airport in the Oleri village, in Udu Local Government Area of Warri, will reflect the culture of the area while providing a place of fun and is set to include a water park, five and three star hotels, chalets, casino, golf course, historical attractions, family entertainment centre, children’s area, sports facilities, spa and retail stores. The Oleri bridge, which is currently under construction, will link the park to the main road network.

The animal reserve and wildlife park will be situated in Ogwashi-UKu, 15 minutes from the new International Airport in Asaba, and 40 minutes flying time from Warri airport.

Princess Abiodun Oyefusi, Managing director of Sarner PFM (Africa), has worked closely with the Delta State in Nigeria to bring the required inward investment of US$250m to develop the first leisure and entertainment resort in the whole of Nigeria.

The overall theme for the resort is ‘Landscapes’ and one of the main features will be a waterfall, offering views across the leisure park from the highest point.

Commenting on the project and the importance of preserving the country’s beautiful surroundings, Ross Magri, Sarner’s Managing Director, says: “The design of the park will ensure the environmental impact is kept to a minimum, and low energy lighting, recycling facilities, protection of the natural habitat and efficient use of energy will form a key part of the design process”. Magri adds, “With increasing public awareness of environmental quality issues, there is a new sense of urgency to identify hazards and seek out sustainable solutions to our most pressing ecological challenges.”

The first phase is due to open at the end of 2013.
