I wonder if UN special adviser Jeffrey Sachs (perhaps Kissinger's mentee, supporter of eugenics and the Tuskegee experimenters) is playing the devil's advocate going by his recent suggestion that Nigeria get on the same path as China. He recently suggested that Nigeria adopt a three-child policy in order to "manage" her rising population which is said to currently stand at 160 million. My opinion is that the "advice" is sick and deranged. Why not focus on improving the quality of life and get Nigerians to be more productive instead of her past and present history consumption. Nigeria has enough resources for more billions of Nigerians. Efficient management of these resources, both human and otherwise, is very crucial in order to actualize her human potential as the light of the black man and indeed the entire world. It is very much possible and requires belief and diligent commitment. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-13530649

There's nothing wrong with trying to control your population, but the forceful chinese approach is wrong. You can achieve the goal without violating human rights by teaching sex education and family planning in primary and secondary schools. You can go one step further and give positive incentives such as tax breaks or a prestigious award to those who plan their families well. Family planning award from the governor heh. |

Sex education from whose perspective and with what standards? How about prioritizing the improvement of living standards across all regions first and letting all others including family sizing follow. |

amor4ce:They sort of go hand in hand. Too many kids = not enough money to send them to school and raise their living standards. amor4ce:I hope you are wealthy enough to afford this, so your kids don't constitute a drain on society |

Nigeria doesn't have a population problem. it just bothers the world to see that many black people in one area. does America with it's 300 million plus have a population problem? plus nigeria is a democracy, how can you tell someone in a democracy how many times he should get his wife pregnant? |

^-- Wtf Don't you realize that the US is one of the largest countries on earth? US pop density is very low, that of Nigeria is quite high. A bit silly to use raw pop figure of the US to to justify Nigeria's population. Even sillier to use the race card. |
