National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) on Thursday began distributing farm inputs to 32,557 farmers affected by the 2020 flood disaster in Niger.

NEMA’s Director-General, Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed, who launched the distribution of the inputs to the beneficiaries in Minna , stated that the agency decided to launch the distribution in Niger state because it was among the worst hit by the 2020 flood disaster.

“You will recall that during the 2020 flood disaster , NEMA staff were deployed to the field, including communities affected by flood and other secondary hazards in Niger, to undertake a damage and loss assessment.”

Ahmed said that 32,557 farmers were verified and were slated to benefit from the Federal Government’s Agricultural Inputs Intervention for the state.

He listed the items to be distributed to include: Herbicides (81,390 litres ), pesticides (48,834 litres), Growth Enhancer (68, 944 litres), rice 12.5 kg (16 ,278 bags), maize 10kg (16, 278 bags).

Others were water pump-2, 252 units, Sprayers – 8 , 139 units , NPK fertiliser – 50 kg, 22,450 bags and Cowpea-10 kg, 16,278 bags.

He stated that in addition to the enumerated inputs, six trucks conveying 5,007 bags of 50 kg NPK 20-10-10 fertiliser would be added as the balance earmarked for the state.

The NEMA chief executive lauded the doggedness and unflinching commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari, for prioritising support to small scale farmers.

Ahmed said the unprecedented Green Revolution by the Buhari-led administration had spread to all nooks and crannies of the country, such that Nigerians had reduced their consumption of imported foods.

In his remarks, Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello commended the president’ s gesture to the state’s farmers.

Bello, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Ketso, said the state government would set up a committee to monitor the beneficiaries, to ensure judicious utilisation of the inputs.

Earlier , the Director-General, State Emergency Management Agency ( NSEMA), Alhaji Ahmed Inga, commended the Federal Government’s intervention to address food security and complement the state government’s efforts.

Haven emboldened herders to destroy farmlands in certain parts of the country.
The government has no moral authority to mention the term 'food security'.

Hmmn, Naija! I've never heard for once that NEMA distributes anything for farmers in the south, Never, as if farmers down south are not facing challenges too. How many irrigation systems are in the south? How many machineries are made available to southern farmers? Go to the north and see what federal government is doing to boost northern agriculture and none of those things are done in the south. These southern governors need to look into many things.

They were affected by 2020 flood and you're just distributing farm input for them in almost last quarter of year 2021. Are you reducing food insecurity or increasing it? What do you expect them to live on for close to two years?

The country belongs to the north. They want oil money from the south. They want southern land for their RUGA. They want VAT for things consumed in the South. All these for free without contributing anything.

It is only during elections that the north is free of disasters.

Ibrahim Ali Alhassan, AbdurRahman Ado Musa, Bashir Ali Yusuf and Muhammad Ibrahim Isa, were each sentenced to 10 years in prison, and also followed by deportation. The court found them guilty of setting up a Boko Haram cell in the UAE to raise funds and material assistance for the insurgents in Nigeria.

The land and the environment looks so green but HERDSMEN keep trouping down to the southern part of Nigeria to be demanding for land and water.

There is plenty of rain water as we can observe from the pictures.

The recent flooding in the north and the change in the world weather system shows that the north is not completely too harsh for the rearing of cattles.

They should be settled in the northern part of Nigeria and allow the good people of the south to have their peace.

PRESIDENT BUHARI SHOULD IMMEDIATELY JETTISON IS FULANIZATION AGENDA AND TELL HIS PEOPLE TO RELOCATE TO THE NORTH for peace to reign in the land of Nigeria.

Senator Adamu from Nasarawa state should also hold his peace and tell his people to settle in the north.

For years, farmers in the south have been experiencing emergencies on daily basis, most of these emergencies were carried by main stream media and social media, to attract attention. No attention was given, by any government agency or the federal government.

On this, I want to say that the government is not for the south neither is any of the government's agencies.
