You've identified your passion - Data Science. Buy a laptop use Edx, Coursera etc to start learning Data Science. These platforms have sufficient materials/tutorials to make your hands strong and become a true professional. You may not even need to spend money in the regular tutorial computer centres. Thereafter, monetize your new found skill. My suggestion is based on the fact that you are currently working just that the pay isn't much. |

Who knows if you'll blow up on TikTok or YT? I think everyone who's earning money should be able to earn smarter. Not just by selling your time... That's why I suggest online skills. So good of you for asking this question. Data science is a promising job as many data gets bigger and needs people who can analyse, handle, store, process and manage data. While working your way up, the few free hours could be converted to money by offering services in high demand. You could consider the following: 1) Tutorial Lessons: you can offer a tutoring service to pupils either home tutor or special centres. This is subject to your passion in imparting knowledge as it is not a job meant for everyone. 2) Consumables: If you look around, you will see that anything food or drink sell. Without considering if it should be left for one gender, you can make puff-puff, doughnuts, chips for sale. Location has nothing to do with food and drinks. Moreso, you don't need too much cash to begin one. You could also partner with someone who can make it why you distribute and collect your commission. 3) Wearables: Same strategy as above, meet someone who sells in bulk, you could buy in bit or sell base on commission. Despite the hardship in town, people won't go naked, as such everyone wants to package with whatever they have. This will mean you need to research what wearables are common among low and mid-income earners as they constitute the larger percentage of workers in the country. 4) Late night sales: In local areas, there is usually what they referred to as "night market". Usually this market kicks off from 5pm and closes around 11pm. It is such a market where people who have gone to work look up to for a little shopping. You can look at few goods to sell. The only thing you may need is knowing the fees to be paid to the local market council. 5) Digital business: You could also venture into sales of digital products. There are many videos online that can help you horn your skill on how to run Facebook and Instagram campaign for your marketing. Digital business marketing requires consistency as it is not meant for someone who wants to go in there now and within 24 hours dream of becoming a millionaire. So it has some hardwork, research to put in. I will keep editing this once I remember other ways that could be helpful to you. Meanwhile, your current job is a blessing in disguise. Several income earners will envy you. They would wish their present jobs could offer such free time. Many high income earners ain't happy despite the perks. Nothing like freedom. chiscodedon: Yes, you can manage it to your schedule. On the average, you need about 4hrs per week for the McKinsey Forward program and an hour per day for the World Quant University Data Science program. I guess the next cohort for the Data Science course starts in the first week of January or so while application deadline is December. Btw, one differentiating factor about the World Quant University is that they do have OFFICE Hours about thrice every week for the duration of the program. That's an opportunity to ask for clarification from your instructor if there's anything you don't understand. I like I typed earlier on, it's totally free and a verifiable certificate will be issued upon completion of the program. You can get further information online. |
