The federal government has blamed the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Yoruba Nation agitators for increasing food scarcity across Nigeria.

Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, says the prevalence of these groups has adversely affected food security thereby posing a new dimension of threats to the country.

“Regrettably, the prevalence of these threats has continued to endanger not only national security and economic growth but also food security.

“In particular, food security has been adversely affected with the attendant rise in the prices of foodstuff across the country which portends a new dimension of threat,” he said.

Mr Magashi said this at the opening of a retreat for Defence Advisers/Attaches Conference, organised by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) on Monday in Abuja.

According to him, states in the South-South region are plagued with illegal oil bunkering, piracy and militancy while the South-East is challenged with secessionist activities of IPOB.

He added that the South-West region is equally faced with secessionist inclination driven by ethnic agitators as well as occasional tension between herders and farmers.

Mr Magashi called for collaboration between the security agencies to “come up with innovative ways of identifying and confronting” these challenges.

The minister said this was necessary in order to “create an enabling atmosphere for economic activities to thrive and to attract Foreign Direct Investment.”

Fulani herders kept killing farmers in their farms since 2015. Because of this, farmers got scared of going to their farms from Benue to Enugu and to Oyo and Ogun States and more.

This is the number 1 cause of food scarcity in Nigeria right now. Even a kid knows it. But, the FG has carefully avoided this open truth in this official statement. Instead, they are blaming those who are basically complaining against the herders' menace.

What else do we need to know that the Buhari Govt is sponsoring the terrorists killing us? And, how come there are humans like , helinues, and their cohorts who lick the ass of this Government without ever criticizing it? Is it because they are the online department of these terrorist groups?

And, why is it that creatures who claim to be humans here on Nairaland are more likely to criminalize IPOB and Yoruba Nation agitators than Buhari and his FG just because of 30k N-Power stipend? You see, many of those who are killed today refused to speak up yesterday. Also, many who fail to speak up today, will be killed tomorrow.

Lalasticlala, Mynd44, Seun. Let the world hear that IPOB and Yoruba Nation agitators (not Fulani herders and bandits) are the cause of food scarcity in Nigeria.

Yeah! No more the middlemen blamed in 1984 or 2021 again are responsible. Not even the their wicked bandits, fulani herdsmen and BH terrorists brethren but IPOB and other peaceful agitators.

Always using the doctrine of taqqiya to deceive the gullible about the unfolding wickedness and evil of their government.

can you imagine this trash. this man did not blame boko haram,Fulani bandits and herdsmen from his Fulani tribe for massacring innocent farmers but somehow found a way to blame innocent agitators. in fact this man basically blamed the south for economic hardship and hunger ploughing the country but forgot that it was the handwork of the bad policies introduced by this administration that made some innocent Nigerians of northern extraction to eat grass

This is a government that never takes responsibility for anything. I'm eagerly waiting for when this government will apologize to the masses for their inadequacies and failures and truly mean it.
I expect that Boko boys, bandits and unknown gunmen will lead in this order but our government think these ones deserve medals while Odùduwà and IPOB agitators should be crucified.
The judgement of this people should start here on earth.

Federal government is now a colossus of chronically daft people.

They left out Fulani herdmen, one of the main culprit in all this and started blaming agitators.

Fulani herdmen and bad government policies is the main cause of the food crisis we’ve seen.

This government continues to give people a reason to want secession. Was it IPOB and Yoruba agitators that are leading cows into people's farms to destroy crops? Is it IPOB and Yoruba agitators that are raping and killing women on their farms? You see, this is why I can never blame agitators because this Nigerian government continues to give people reason to want to leave Nigeria.

The most useless government in the whole history of Nigeria!

They lie shamelessly, they don't even hide the nepotic leadership style undecided

These whole violence and killings started in the North but did you hear this good for nothing mention the North

Was it secessionists that was attacking the food basket of the nation (Benue) Southerner Kaduna, Adamawa and the rest

Fellow NIGERIANS, even as they are about winding up, it's obvious that this regime that nothing to offer but excuses, I am afraid that all they will continue to do is to kill

To think that they still have a year to go... undecided

FG think we're fools abi?, Them dey craze.
Why do Fg always like to blame Ipob & Oduduwa agitators etc for everything & always fall to acknowledge their bad leadership?.

Buhari's, El-Rufi, etc imported herdsmen, Bandits (ISWAP) with Bokoharam are the cause.

How did Yoruba agitation started?, Farmers herders clash. Yoruba's form Amoteku.
Ipob/ESN started when Eastern governors refuse to form replica of Amoteku, that give birth to ESN, Fulani herdsmen are killing farmers.
So how is it Ipob & Yoruba agitators.

In the North Buhari brothers, & imported Bandits baptized (ISWP) & Bokoharam chased farmers away.

Simple truth they will not, mad people everywhere.

When I say this government is an assembly of the worst and dumbest empty skulls the society has to offer it will look as if one is being too extreme. The way they dance around the truth is something else. You have blamed middlemen, blamed weather and climate, blamed Ipob and yoruba nation agitators but the people that are constantly killing farmers and burning farms can not and should not be mentioned and addressed. the people business men in the North constantly kidnapping and killing farmers, the ones that demand farmers pay protection fees and taxes, that farmers must farm for them first before they are allowed to farm for themselves, the ones that go on killing spree in farming and rural communities anytime they feel like showing off who is in charge. Of course these guys actions don't affect food safety, after all they are just busines men that have not hoisted flags in any of Nigeria's territory

Re: IPOB, Yoruba Nation Agitators, Responsible For Food Scarcity In Nigeria - FG by saintmm(m): 3:38pm On Nov 09, 2021
The new Buhari's government lieing machine had just been unveiled. The rest had done their best.

Imagine such from a security officer!
What happens to Boko Haram people? ISWAP? The effect of bandits in the commercial agricultural north? The accomplishments of Fulani herders in the agricultural zones of the south? The free fall of naira due to bad policy that affect products value chain? Corruption and multiple taxation that is making our business environment hard. Among other things...
A failed government only blames and never take responsibility.

These demons are just deliberately throwing out sickeningly false narratives so that years down the line, with our notoriously short memories and inability to properly document and validate salient information/history, it is these bald-faced lies that will permeate the internet and become the available source of information. This is also why EFCC decided to mess around with Obi Cubana, not because they have anything concrete against him but just to sully his records so whenever he gets checked out, it would be that he had at some point been arrested/detained/investigated for money laundering or tax evasion as claimed.
