You need to provide evidence of this. Many people involved has said he was not part. Buhari himself said he was not part. If you know he was part of the coup, kindly provide evidence.

If he wasn't, they won't have made him head of state

Plus every coup plotter uses the line you just used. They all were never involved but they accepted an invitation to take office.

Anyway the works of Max Siollun are a good place to start for evidence. Read his Soldiers of fortune.

Soludo looks promising. Congratulations to Anambra people. They got a good deal on this one.

Moghalu should learn from this. He needs to find his way into a party that can give him the platform he needs.

He did partake of the anti Gowon coup in 1975 or he won't have been in the government that resulted from the coup.

As it's second in command.

Murtala appointing him as his 2 IC shows that Obasanjo at the very least was involved.

Very untrue. Your conjecture is not a principle or law. 3 coups took place between 1966 and 1975. Aguiyi Ironsi emerged head of state in 1966 without any knowledge of the activities of d couple plotters. In that same year, a counter coup was staged. Gowon emerged head of state but wasn't involved in the planning of the coup. In 1975, a group of junior officers were responsible for planning and executing the coup that removed Gowon as he was out of the country during the period. There's no evidence to date that Obasanjo was involved in the coup of 1975. If u have, kindly share

Hmm, and someone said exactly what you have said about Obasanjo concerning Buhari's coup plotting in the 1983 putsch...that it was younger officers involved.

mfm04622:

You need to provide evidence of this. Many people involved has said he was not part. Buhari himself said he was not part. If you know he was part of the coup, kindly provide evidence.

Exactly the same lingo..only about Buhari.

Anyway, while young officers then were involved in the 1975 coup planning...the fact is not only did Obasanjo do nothing to stop them, but basically eventually joined in and became the second in command.

If he was opposed, he would have alerted Gowon, and at the very least led some form of resistance against the coup..the same way Ironsi attempted to do so in 1966, before making the mistake of deciding to take power.

Obasanjo was involved. If he wasn't why didn't he stop it? Why did he listen to the three top generals who came to his house to sound him out about joining up.?

According to Garba, it proved to be quite a difficult task to round up senior officers from other parts of Nigeria because most were in a “summer holiday” mood attending to all sorts of non-military pursuits while others had traveled abroad. A speedboat, for example, had to be sent to the riverine area of present Ondo State to fetch Brigadier Oluleye. An additional factor in the difficulty of rounding up officers was the instinctive self-protective need to lie low after a coup is announced – particularly when the agenda of the putschists is unclear.

Garba wrote:

“It was not until about five in the afternoon that a large number of them finally assembly in Dodan Barracks to hear what we, who came to be known as the Junta, had to say. We kept everyone waiting in the large council chamber, after plucking out our proposed ruling triumvirate of Murtala Muhammed, Olusegun Obasanjo, and T.Y. Danjuma, to inform them of their new jobs.”

The three officers who jointly announced the identities and jobs of the proposed triumvirate in the coffee room at Dodan Barracks were Colonel JN Garba (the main spokesperson), Colonel Abdullahi Mohammed, and Lt. Col. SM Yar’Adua. These officers explained that although Brigadier Murtala Mohammed (from Kano in the core north) was militarily junior to Brigadier Olusegun Obasanjo (from Abeokuta in the southwest), “real politik” made it necessary to offer the position of Head of State to Mohammed. Obasanjo quickly accepted to serve under his junior, Murtala Mohammed, as long as his new job – as Chief of Staff, SHQ - carried real power and responsibilities. Danjuma was offered the position of Chief of Staff (Army), which he later clarified was now to be called Chief of Army Staff – an important distinction

Why did he agree to join the coup? Complicity ....they were all in on it.

After all Nzeogwu was not invlolved in the planning of the 1966 coup ...but was brought in later. And joined in. And we all call him a plotter.

Source

Anyway...it does not matter.

Good afternoon. This is all I have to say about the matter. I do not wish to continue this discussion. Defending coupists is not my forte.

U were asked to provide evidence of obasanjos involvement in the 1975 coup. Up till now, u haven't been able to do so.

According to u:

"the fact is not only did Obasanjo do nothing to stop them, but basically eventually joined in and became the second in command".

At what time during this period was Obasanjo made aware of the coup? What should he have done to stop the coup plotters?

When u compare Obasanjo to nzeogwu, what role did Nzeogwu play in the planning and execution of the 1966 coup?

When u also compare aguiyi Ironsi with Obasanjo claiming that Obasanjo should have done what Ironsi did in 1966 against the Nzeogwu coup, what where the command positions of these two gentlemen before the various coups in question?

Hello this is @sufferingboy.

There was a plan by malami, mamman daura and Emeifiele to make emeifiele Apc candidate for that 2023 delta gov election. But for the sake peace and equity,we Ikas don't need that now.

Emefiele should go for other post.I am sure his boss(Jim Ovia) will not allow emefiele to contest. It is not a wise thing to do when an Ika man(okowa is the outgoing Gov.)

Emeifele should fight to get ministerial post in the next govt.

Emefiele is the first CBN governor to serve twice(two tenure).
