Been a Nigerian in Nigeria is not easy !

I keep hearing learn a skills as a graduate
But what skills are we talking about here ?
No one is talking!

Other part of the world
They will recruit and also train successful applicants how to go about the job!

But in Nigeria employers will be asking of 4 or 5 years experience

Where should a graduate get that experience?

Why can’t they offer training?

The rate at which corruption has eaten this country deep ehn

Go to oshodi there

You will see both Graduate and non graduate doing 7-7 work on stipend and still yet those Lebanese companies will still treat them like animals!

Without insurance!

To make matter worst

Na Nigeria police or mopol go still dey guide those companies!

If government is serious both NASS and FG
They should come up with serious policy through Ministry of Labour and Employment i mean Policies
such as

-Stop asking for ridiculous years of Experience!
-If you wanna recruit
You need to train Successful Applicant
-Let there be insurance for all workers
Either private or public

•Let employers start paying minimum wage
Both private and public

•Cut wasteful spending
•Stop backyard recruitment to federal ministries and parastatals

•Create enabling environment for investors not that you will support OPAY today and Tomorrow you will say you don’t want Okada (The same government will always look up to NURTW/RTEAN/MOALS for endorsement during electioneering period)
-Fix our health sector

-if only one party or president can just Focus on one problem
•ELECTRICITY
•Housing
•Transportation
•Road infrastructure
•Employment
• Health
•Wealth creation

Instead of 20 point agenda
Or Vision 2030

It would have saved us Topic like this!!!

So what stops the federal government from making it mandatory for skills acquisitions to be incorporated into schooling activities.
Alas,it's glaring that we all know the problems plaguing naija but deliberately don't want to solve it.
Yeah, because they don't want to spend any money on education

The federal and state government should work together to restructure the educational curriculum.

The polytechnic that the federal government started in Nigeria should be converted into a university of science and technology with the school offering ND certificate and BTECH degree.

National Diploma should be for its usual 2 years.

Bachelor in Technology should replace HND and it should be for 4 years.

HND Degree should be scrapped it is not relevant anymore as Bachelor degree is what majority of bodies appreciate.

Those old student or ex-graduate of Polytechnic who are presently holding HND certificate should be made to undergo bridging programme of one or two years to get a Bachelor degree of technology.

The university of science and technology should run programme like NATIONAL DIPLOMA/BTECH in any of the underlisted courses

Barbing and Hair dressing

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN CODING AND WEBSITE DESIGN.

BTECH IN Culinary Studies and Hospitality Services.

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN TAILORING ( BOTH SEWING OF NATIVE WEAR AND WESTERN WEARS )

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN WELDING AND FABRICATION

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN TILING OF FLOOR

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN PAINTING OF HOUSES.

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN PLUMBING WORKS

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN BOAT BUILDING

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN BREWERY AND DISTILERY TECHNOLOGY

NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN FIRE FIGHTING.

If our educational system is overhaul it will go a long way in creating jobs and self employment for our graduate.

I concur

Don't come into my mentions to talk nonsense.

You need a waiver to get hired, as a new worker.

The minster of labour recently explained that you need a waiver to get hired.

Nigeria no longer has basic foundation for quality education.
The major point is that our educational system only teaches theory and leave the technical part....You go to a mechanical engineering school but you can not repair a car.. All you where thought was theory.

These are all LIES. The perm Sec. just had to prepare an address, which his boss will be happy with.

Nigeria educational system needs surgical operations to meet the needs and challenges of the current times especially given the need for entrepreneurship to counter the unemployment that our mismanaged economy caused.

The issue of graduates not having requisite skill is not true. Our graduates who have 'japad' to Canada and other countries are impressing their hosts. Yes, like in every society, there are poor graduates but to lump all graduates together as poor is criminal to say the least.

Poor graduates from Nigeria do very well when they get outside

Does Buhari have the requisite skill to lead a LGA not to mention a country as diverse as Nigeria.
Buhari is using old system of 1980s to run the government. Buhari does not have the required skills, ministry of education should also make sure that Buhari acquire the necessary skill to run the government.
