Why are Japanese Names Similar to African ( Nigerian ) Names? Any history behind this observation? Example: Chikafumi Hodo - TOKYO, June 13, http:///kjE7Og Chika --(Igbo) Fumi----(Yoruba) |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by Nobody: 5:05am On Jun 13, 2011 |
fumi is not Yoruba. |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by wedapeople(f): 5:14am On Jun 13, 2011 |
If fumi is not Yoruba, what is it then? You want to tell me that Chika is not Igbo. |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by Nobody: 5:17am On Jun 13, 2011 |
wedapeople: I said fumi is not Yoruba, what concerns me with Chika? Take it from a Yoruba woman, fumi is not Yoruba, okay? What do you think fumi means? |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by exotik: 8:30am On Jun 13, 2011 |
lol, so "yorubas" are rejecting fumi now? i thought that was a common "yoruba" name, and olufumi easily comes to mind. |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by Jenifa1: 8:31am On Jun 13, 2011 |
lol @ fumi looks japanese to me. not yoruba |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by exotik: 8:40am On Jun 13, 2011 |
ohhh it is funmi not fumi. i guess it is the "n" that makes the difference, just like "g" makes the difference btwn igbo and ibo |

It's an interesting topic. Some people say that Ancient Japanese were from Africa. They say they migrated to Madagascar from the mainland and then to Japan but this is obviously a joke. I'd say it's a mere coincidence. Many Igbo and Yoruba words resemble Japanese. And Funmi is Yoruba. I believe the full name is Oluwafunmi meaning "Give me joy". I've met many Yorubas named Funmi |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by PAGAN9JA(m): 11:47pm On Jun 13, 2011 |
which means u dont believe in the theory of creationism, where everyone in d worlds descended from africa |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by odumchi: 1:01am On Jun 14, 2011 |
Not everyone was directly from Africa. The modern Japanese people migrated from Eastern China 200 ce. PAGAN 9JA: |

dats exactly wat i have been trying to say all these years!!!!!!!!!!!!! this stuff about adam n eve, its just limited to white-man stories. the truth is dat we r descended from apes. and der wer different apes in different parts of the world, which eventually evolved into different races of humans and resulted in successive civilisations, lyk d Indus-Valley civilisation, d Mesopotamian civilisation, d Hwang-Ho civilisation, d Egyptian civilisation, etc. |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by Bawss1(m): 12:41pm On Jun 15, 2011 |
I say the apparent similarities are just coincidental. It is tempting to want to link the two cultures together. |

PAGAN 9JA: Edo no longer exists, Edo is now Tokyo. |

Re: Japanese Names & African Names by Booshman(m): 9:18pm On Jun 16, 2011 |
odumchi: Yes, the Japanese migrated from Eastern China, but the Chinese are the descendants of Horn Africans. Primarily Khoi-san. Here is a video about Chinese geneticists taking 100,000 DNA samples, and learning that the first Chinese were from East Africa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3IzMvBeOLk |

Booshman: you are simply very s.tupid, that's all. |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by Booshman(m): 11:08pm On Jun 17, 2011 |
PAGAN 9JA: Except that it's been proven scientifically that the Chinese, like ALL humans, are from Africa. Provide proof that states otherwise or be quiet. And I didn't say tribals are silly. Tribes and tribals are great. What I said is that tribalism is silly. It's pointless. |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by PAGAN9JA(m): 10:22pm On Jun 18, 2011 |
abeg describe tribalism. im curious to now wat u mean by it. cause how in the name of satans red bikini, can tribes be great n tribalism be silly |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by Booshman(m): 8:37am On Jun 19, 2011 |
PAGAN 9JA: A prime example is what commonly happens on these very forums. There will be a thread about a Yoruba doing something positive and then the Igbos will flood and insult him. Or there will be a thread about Nigerians as a whole and the Yorubas will start insulting Igbos for NO REASON! Indivdual tribes and cultures are fine. But that doesn't mean you have to start bickering against others outside of your ethnic group, like a petulant child, for no reason! Especially when you all are in the same boat, and living in a country that's struggling. |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by PAGAN9JA(m): 4:04pm On Jun 19, 2011 |
oh dats alright. tribes must live together in unity, but they must not inter-breed. easch tribe must maintain his sense of identity n culture, and at the same time work for the betterment of the nation as a whole. |
Re: Japanese Names & African Names by odumchi: 12:17am On Jun 21, 2011 |
Not Every Ethnic block was directly from Africa but we all have a common ancestor that migrated from Africa. At round 200,000 ce the first modern humans left the East African forests and divided into three groups. Group A went multiplied and spread across west and central Africa. Group B went to North Africa and then to the Middle East. Group C went to southern Africa and then migrated to Madagascar and from there, they went to Australia and South East Asia. The descendents of Group B divided again into four more groups. The first group migrated to Russia and adopted white skin. The second group went to Europe and also adopted white skin. The third group went westward towards east Asia andadopted a heaivier skin tone due to increased elevation, and the fourth group remained in the middle east. That is how we humans came to be where we are today. |

Folks, this has been very enlightening. I have observed several other similarities but never did pay much attention until now. Well "funmi" and "fumi" without splitting hair are darn close. A prestine mind would quickly see that those two sure do have something in common. Maybe coincidental but still calls for attention. Well here we go, a simple call for information(education) here has brought out a lot of history on the table. You know I am not a history buff, As a matter of fact I can care less for it but when distant things have similarities I tend to pay close attention. Discoveries mostly by accident and rarely by intelligence. Pay close attention that seem like they connect. There could be a story there. Guess how the Almighty "Viagra" got to win its golden trophy. You think Pfizer was working to discover Viagra? Heck . So always pay attention and manage your emotions. You may be in for a rude awakening. |
