JUST IN: Jaruma granted bail after 4 days in custody as youth protest against fake news, defamation

Controversial kayamatta dealer, Jaruma was on Friday granted bail by an Area Court in Zuba, Federal Capital Territory after four days in the custody of Nigeria Correctional Service.

She was earlier arrested and arraigned for offences bordering on drug dealing and defamation of the character of former House of Representatives member and philanthropist, Hon. Ned Nwoko.

The court had granted her bail under certain conditions while she prepares her defence.

This comes as youths stage a peaceful protest against fake news in the country, a practice they say has lead to the death of many.

The youths accused Jaruma of being a promoter of fake news, urging the court to use her as a scapegoat for others intending to engage in the nefarious act to learn their lessons.

They expressed concern that if fake news is not frontally dealt with, it will do the nation a lot of harm.

They say a greater Nigeria can only be achieved in an environment where people will be safe from unwarranted hate and attacks on the social media space.

With their placards bearing inscriptions like 'Jaruma is a promoter of fake news' 'Jaruma and her product is fake', 'Nigerians say no to fake news' and others the protesters insist that only justice for victims of fake news will deter the act.

They want the court to mete out to her adequate sanction for her act of peddling fake news.

The case has been adjourned to February 23, 2022.

Because say I never make money, I nor fit support others to defame another person even though their money nor clean.

The way Jaruma was dropping malicious post on social media to defame the personality of Ned Nwoko was uncalled for, and must not be ignored. The deal was between his wife and her, it is not enough to drag Ned's marital status and person to the mud.

I have seen that most people here are angry with Regina Daniels for marrying an old man like Ned Nwoko. Please if you are one of them, drop that hatred and channel it towards poverty. The marriageable age in Nigeria is 18, and anyone that is of that age or above has the right to marry anyone. She got married to Ned Nwoko and she is happy, why is that a thorn in your flesh? Are you his father, mother or guardian? I swear, I dey vex for people wey dey dense this Regina girl.

Same Nigerians that will post do what suits you so far it is not a crime are those behind keyboards trolling this young girl. Respect people's decision in as much as you want them to respect yours.

Imagine the rate of injustice an average Nigerian face on a daily basis just because they don't have that 'connection.'
Ned is simply wielding his power on Jaruma by pleasing Regina.

What Jaruma did was wrong, but that doesn't change the fact that these 'protesting' hungry youth were paid! grin May God not put us through the humiliation of allowing ourselves to serve the ignoble role of a hired crowd, working for Nigerian big men, protesting not because we believe in the cause but because we were paid to protest.

The other day in one of her Gram's post, she was running her mouth like a broken tap shouting Ned did this, Ned did that, hopefully this will serve as a lesson to her to never offend the wrong person as summarised in the 19th Law of power.

Law 19. Know Who You’re Dealing With – Don’t Offend the Wrong Person
Choose your opponents wisely. There are some people that once defeated, will spend the rest of their lives seeking revenge.....
