Hmm... possible, but given the wide spread resistance to the Russian invasion. Mind you, China did not require force to take Hong Kong & it practically left its economy tied to the west (I think HK has one if the most developed economies in the world).

I doubt any government put in place by Russia in ukraine would be successful... it will require russia leaving behind a lot of military forces which would in turn breed resentment just like what happened to the US in Vietnam... also, the Ukrainian economy is not exactly 'good' to start with, so does Russia have the resources to boost the Ukrainian economy?

Well, let's see how it goes. My hope is that the fighting stops sooner than later & whatever needs to be worked out should be done without further deaths on both sides.

Russia will need to get EU to continue it's oil and gas deal for Ukraine to even survive!
