And what caused the crisis in 2014? Because the Ukrainians ditched a very corrupt Putin buddy as president and voted their preferred candidate in. He chose to teach them a lesson by seizing Crimea and starting and sponsoring Russian speaking separatists in Russian dominated parts of Ukraine.

Don't start with the theory that Russian Ukrainians who are a minority were badly treated. It isn't true. Minorities globally complain. Even the Scots complain of the English and the Welsh as well. It is just normal.

The violent secession was started and sponsored by Putin. This isn't his first time prying into other countries. He invaded Georgia in 2008 as he did not like their president. Even recently, he sent troops to crush widespread protests in Kazakhstan that would have brought down the corrupt dictatorship that has run that country for 3 decades, since the breakup of the USSR.
