How God Saved Me From The Hands Of Bandits On My Way To Abuja

Having heard severally about the ordeals suffered by some individuals in the hands of armed robbers while on a journey, including several close family members, i often wondered what it would like if I encountered such myself, because i'd never experienced such while traveling by road.

However all that was about to change several years ago when I had embarked on a journey from Lagos to Abuja.

We started the journey quite late on that day, at about 10am so by the time we got to Abuja, it was already early hours of the next day.

Having gotten to the outskirts of the FCT, Gwagwalada to be precise, the feeling was meant to be one of relief having come such a long way, and almost arriving at our destination, however, it suddenly turned to one of apprehension, as we saw several buses suddenly reversing with speed on the other lane, instead moving in the opposite direction.

Immediately, the driver of the bus I had traveled with didn't wait for anyone to tell him what was going on, as he immediately hit the reverse gear and also joined the others on the other lane moving with the back of the bus not knowing exactly why he was doing so.

It was later on we got to know that it was bandits that had mounted road blocks on the express road in order to rob road users, that we were trying to evade.

Not long afterwards, we saw that some vehicles had started moving in the forward direction once again, so we joined them not knowing exactly what was going on but assuming that it meant the road was now safe again for use.

When we had gotten close to the point the bandits had mounted the road blocks, we now understood what had taken place, as we saw sticks and stones littered on the ground, and some armed soldiers standing by and waving touches at the vehicles, beckoning to the road users that it was all clear and now safe again to use the road.

By the side of the road, we saw a parked camouflaged military luxurious bus fully loaded with military personnel, so it was obvious they were the ones that actually chased off the bandits.

The timing to me was something else, as the first time that bandit or robbers decided to attack road users on the same road I was travelling, was the same time that a camouflaged military luxurious bus packed with military personnel decided to use the same road.

I believe it was God protecting His own, although at the time, I also had some concerns, because although it was the outskirts of Abuja, I thought if those bandits could have the mind to stage such an attack in the FCT, how much more else where?

That's why I'm not too surprised at what's going on with banditry in the nation as I long saw it coming.

I pray God would intervene in the situation though, because it appears a problem too big for men alone to solve.

God bless.

Another remarkable thing happened to me while I was on my way to Abuja on another journey. This time it wasn't a robbery or bandits' attack, but something entirely different.

Now, I've also heard several people share their painful experiences about how they lost their luggage in the course of their journeys, but I had never experienced such in my life.

But on a certain day while I was traveling from Port Harcourt to Abuja, it was that close.

We had just gotten to Zuba, and parked at the bus stop to drop off some passengers.

I was at the back seat when the Siena stopped, but after they alighted, i thought about changing my position to the passenger seat at the front, since the seat there was empty.

So I did just that, but after the vehicle had began to moving, something just made me look at the side mirror of the Siena, and when I did, I sighted my two bags which I was traveling with, on the floor behind the car and by the side the men who had just alighted from the vehicle.

Immediately i called the attention of the driver and told him to stop, that I saw my bags on the floor. So he stopped the car and reversed to the point where my bags were. So i immediately got down from the car, and took my two bags and put back into the boot of the car. The men who had brought down my bags from the car had a dazed look on their faces, but I didn't even say anything to them, whatever their intentions were, I just took my bags put them back into car, and went back to the front seat, and the driver zoomed off as though.

That was how close I came to losing my luggage right in the middle of now where.

For those who know the bus stop in Zuba where vehicles going to Abuja offload some of their passengers, they would understand how close it was. It wasn't like in a park where someone could come back to seek his things, but a transit point on the road, where people traveled to different parts of the country. The guys who brought my bags down from the car said they were on their way to Jos or so, so that would have surely been it... There was no way I could have possibly gotten back my bags from those guys.

But it seemed God thought otherwise, hence He made me to take that quick glance at the side mirror at that crucial moment when the car had already taken off.

That the only reason why I haven't yet lost my luggage while traveling up til date.

God bless.

but whenever something bad happens blame the devil or say god works in mysterious ways

When all good things are credited to God, and all evil is thrown at the feet of mankind/devil, it makes thinking people conclude that theists have only invented a God as a sort of repository for holding all positive beliefs, such as hope for the future, surviving our mortality by means of an afterlife, etc.

If God gets all the credit, he also gets all the blame. And trying to have it both ways is just further evidence to me that God is an invention of man rather than the inverse.

Testimony time.....blessing time and more money in offering box.

Funny enough they now script it in churches and hand it to best performers every Sunday.

Nice script here by the way

Testimony?

There are thousands of evils that happens knowingly or unknowingly to us but got saved by God.

So targeting every Sunday to drop trash and call it testimony is form of ingratitude to me.

It's best to serve God in spirit and in truth.

OP. If those were bandits, you wouldn't have had access to type this bullshit you wrote up there.

Those were probably petty thieves or highway robbers.

That Abaji - Kwali - Gwagwalada axis doesn't fit the description of your bandit story.

Try again!

He said, "I believe it was God protecting His own." I guess those who have died on that road weren't God's own.
