Okorocha makes case for rural communities

Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) coordinators have been advised to focus on rural communities where palliatives are most needed.

Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, gave this advice when the national office of the MDGs led by its Director, Oluwole Edun, paid him a courtesy call, at the Government House, Owerri yesterday.

Okorocha noted that government is incomplete until it impacts the grassroots, adding that the state government is embarking on massive development of its rural areas based on this realisation.

He however bemoaned the decay of public facilities, especially primary schools and called for maintenance culture to sustain government projects.

Edun disclosed that the MDGs is carrying out a pilot programme under the Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS) in 113 councils nationwide.
