Aniocha/Oshimili Politics 2023 and Why Ndudi Elumelu Must Not Return to the House of Representatives.

Chief Jerry Nkeweshe (Owelle 1 of Onicha Olona)

Ndudi Elumelu, is from Aniocha north and has been representing Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency comprising four (4) local government for 12 years (3 tenures); and he was recently imposed again on the PDP by the PDP political machinery as their candidate to contest for this office for another four years.

Irrespective of the above, we, “Aniocha/Oshimili Youth for Progress” are quite concerned about the impact of the perpetual imposition of Ndudi Elumelu on our people and to be specific, we are very worried because the public service rendered so far by Ndudi Elumelu on behalf of the entire Aniocha/ Oshimili federal constituency people has not met their yearnings. Indeed, his service in the house of representatives has mostly served his personal interest.

We are worried that his continuation in office will only produce more of the same, and this will dash the hopes and aspirations of a large majority of Aniocha/Oshimili people, especially the youths and the entrepreneurial class, whose future is being mortgaged. To foster development and progress of Aniocha/ Oshimili,we therefore say ‘NO’ to the return of Ndudi Elumelu to the house of representatives especially for the following reasons;

LACK OF EQUITY: Ndudi Elumelu’s proposed continuity as our representatives in the green chamber lacks equity.

He was elected for three terms (12 years) in order to balance the political tripod of Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency politics it is not right for him or anyone from Aniocha north to aspire for same because of the other local government areas.

Today, after spending almost 12 years at the house of representatives, Ndudi Elumelu seeks continuity. To achieve this he exploited the “Aniocha north-in-power” influence and possible clandestine connivance with both known and masked element who had threatened fire and brimstone and a total breakdown of law and order should the good people of Aniocha/Oshimili not return him to the Green Chamber; In this age and time, and with our continuous quest to deepen our democratic norms and values, we take a serious offence to being held hostage while persons without merit are forced down our throats.

We therefore reject the imposition of Ndudi Elumelu on the people of Aniocha/ Oshimili federal constituency.

NEPOTISM: For the past 12 years, Hon Ndudi Elumelu, has been in the house of representatives. Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, since 2007, Re-elected into the House of Representatives, 2011, Re-elected into the House of Representatives, 2019. And he has also been privilege to be in key committees.

Chairman, Committee on Power, 2007 - 2010
Chairman, Committee on Health
Member of the following committees: Information, Climate change, Interior, Water Resources, Science and Technology, National Security and Public Safety.

He is also the current minority leader of the 9th house of representatives. This is besides being in many other vibrant committees. Using these official platforms, Ndudi Elumelu is directly involved with, and gets involved with innumerable projects by proxy, thereby amassing colossal wealth for himself and associates to the detriment of the people he is supposed to serve.

First, it is important to note that the Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency allocation under the custody of Ndudi Elumelu for 12 years are based on the rightful legacy and inheritance of Aniocha/Oshimili communities within the federal constituency, which mainly includes the Oshimili north, Oshimili south, Aniocha north and Aniocha south.

Ndudi Elumelu maintains an overriding influence on this budget and continues to use his office to assign many projects on the basis of political patronage; and all in a desperate attempt to silence the voice of the people. However, “Enough is enough”. This time around, we say ‘NO.’

It is even worse that he has been using his influence as Chairman of these committees to concentrate most of the constituency projects within his Aniocha north local government areas; while other local government have to battle to attract projects to develop their areas.

In fact, over 60% of these budgets are spent on substandard projects in Aniocha north. This insensitive act of ‘robbing-Peter-to-pay-Paul” must stop forthwith. These facts are readily verifiable and are not far-fetched.

A number of scenarios are now playing out as we proceed towards the 2023 elections in Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency.

Ndudi Elumelu and associates appear to have started on the wrong footing by undermining the interests of both the Oshimili north, Oshimili south and Aniocha south that are important voting blocs; but this situation has also provided both local government areas with an excellent opportunity to pull together in the 2023 elections.

They certainly wield significant power to determine the outcome of the Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency elections if they approach it with a common front, and side-step the “divide-and-rule” that almighty political merchant. Hon Ndudi Elumelu, may want to use against them.

We know that, Ndudi Elumelu the current representative of the Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency is from Aniocha north and Aniocha north have been there for 12 years as well as held many other top positions at state and federal levels.

The big questions?

Is Aniocha north the only local government that makes up the Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency?

Why should Aniocha north in the person of Ndudi Elumelu be aspiring to go for the 4th term when some other local governments that makes up the federal constituency have not even had a shut at it?

Is Ndudi Elumelu the only one in the federal constituency or we don't have others who are qualified from the Oshimili's & Aniocha south?

The Oshimili's and Aniocha south lag behind in many indices and still complain of marginalization, so it would be a tale of doom if they still act naively in the political sense.

They ought not to rely on empty promises from Ndudi Elumelu and his political party, rather they should act “smart” by using the strength of their electoral votes to their utmost benefit, so as to rise from the present “political grave yard” they find themselves in.

Only the Oshimili's and Aniocha south can do it for themselves. The old mentality of “blaming others” is now useless, because here lies a golden opportunity before them.

The solution is in their own hands. All politics is about numbers! If they so wish, they can sell off their pride and their rights for a “pot of porridge”, but they will only have themselves to blame.

Therefore, the leaders of the Oshimili's/ Aniocha south people should not fritter it away by mortgaging and trading-off their rights, their privileges and the future of their youths.

May we therefore sound a loud trumpet as though we speak from the preacher’s pulpit; we admonish all Oshimili's/Aniocha south People today we will NEVER allow impunity, corruption, nepotism or criminality to thrive in Aniocha/ Oshimili federal constituency by Ndudi Elumelu.

God bless Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency

God bless Delta State

God bless Nigeria
