You don’t need anyone to tell you that she’s Yoruba claiming Sokoto. A lot of folks do this to gain admission. I have a friend who’s name is Albulahi Osazuwa Osayande from Borno state. All so he can get Medicine at Unimaid. A soothsayer doesn’t need to tell you that this person is an Edo guy and not a northerner.
It’s a common occurrence in the south due to the unfair advantage the North has. No one asked the north to continuously remain educational less developed. We all gain independence together, even the Igbos that fought a civil war and had everything destroyed doesn’t have a state that is classified as an ELDS. |

Many kids in southern states achieve high scores. But because the admission spaces are limited the cut off are set high. This means a good number of them that would otherwise be eligible for admission in northern states are left up dry. Scoring 40/200 in an exam is close to being stupid. Anyhow UNITY Schools are not centres of excellence that is not why they exist.

Are you saying Kano's cutoff will be 40 or 50 or even lower because the demand is low? No! the average score forms a basis of deciding who goes in. This will be done in line with the demand( number who wrote/needed). Also if 200 candidates write from Lagos and their average score is 80. Based on your demand theory, their cut of score will be higher than that of Kano in this analogy since a lot people wrote from Lag despite having a lower average. This cannot be so. Their cutoff will consider the average score of the candidates from the state vis a vis the number who wrote. The cutoff marks are majorly based on average performance per state in line with the number needed from the state to ensure that high performing states are judged against each other. States that have a high cutoff mark obviously performed better averagely. Lagos had most candidates in this common entrance exam yet has a lower cut-off than some other states despite their very high demand. N/b: I am not here to argue about the demerits or merits of this system, just to correct the quoted misconception. |

Religion has never been a problem within the Yoruba race, unfortunately since the introduction of political Sharia laws in Northern Nigeria religion especially Islam has been political. Religious differences are now impacting the SW, especially with the introduction of Islamic values in secular schools in the SW, I can understand why this is happening due to the collapse of Nigeria's moral values but I am concerned with the politics of imposing Islamic values in Nigeria schools system. You just have to look at the imposition of political Sharia law in Northern Nigeria and how that has regressed the standard of education and development in the North. 2 Likes 1 Share |

All the south eastern states have very high cutoffs followed by the southwest then the middle belt follows before south-south and the northerners take the last position. if it was to be merit base according to the ministry of education, 60% of the most successful students comes from ANAMBRA and imo alone thereby defeating the the reason for diversity. Perhaps one of her parents is from Sokoto state...
The lady did her exam in Lagos state, instead of the minister saying that Lagos state produces the best students this year...because of Fulani cynical nature, he searches for her root if any of her parents are from the north...and he found one...
