Ekweremadu's Donor Was Given A Passport Of A 41-Year-Old - UK Doctor by 1stGenAmerican(f): 6:05am On Jun 28, 2022
The University of Lincoln has banned a visiting professor who tried to 'harvest organs from a 15-year that had been trafficked to the UK using a fake passport'.

A consultant working in a NHS hospital refused to remove the vital organ a 15-year-old who was allegedly trafficked to London from the streets of Lagos by the former deputy president of the Nigerian Senate and his wife , a court heard.

Ike Ekweremadu, 60, and Beatrice Ekweremadu, 55, are accused of taking the homeless youngster to the UK from Nigeria to transplant his organs into their daughter who is suffering from kidney failure.

The doctor at the Royal Free in Camden became suspicious about whether the alleged victim was aware he was the donor of the kidney and whether he was 41 as his passport claimed.

The 15-year-old was given the passport of a 41-year-old in order to get into the UK, but did not know he was there to donate a kidney until he went a hospital appointment in London, a court heard yesterday.

After he arrived in the capital in February he had a string of medical appointments about kidney donation, but a consultant at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, North London, became concerned about the boy's real age and if he knew he was there to donate an organ, it is alleged.

Mr Ekweremadu has been an elected senator at the Abuja-based parliament since 2003 after moving into politics after years as a lawyer. His wife, five years his junior, is an academic and doctor and also a major public figure in Nigeria. They are believed to have four adult children. Both deny trafficking the boy.

Prosecutor Damla Ayas told Uxbridge Magistrates Court yesterday: 'The victim was 15. In Nigeria he was approached by both defendants. He was homeless on the streets of Lagos. They deceived him and promised him a better life in the UK. He was given a passport for a 41-year-old. The passport was illegally obtained by these defendants

'He was provided with a medical travel visa saying the purpose of the travel was to provide medical treatment for the defendants' daughter who was undergoing dialysis in relation to a number of health issues.

'It was premeditated, it was planned. Blood tests were obtained in Nigeria and he travelled to the UK in February this year.

He was taken to several medical appointments in particular a medical appointment at the Royal Free Hospital and was spoken to by a consultant about the organ harvesting for a kidney transplant.

'The consultant was concerned about his actual age and was concerned he was not aware he was the donor of the kidney. He only found out that the purpose of his visit was for an organ transplant when he visited the hospital'.

Police were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery laws last month

Ekweremadu has been in the UK for at least the past fortnight having met with members of the Nigerian community in Britain in Lincoln around ten days ago.

They arrested the couple two days ago at Heathrow Airport as they attempted to board a plane to Turkey - where it was suggested that the procedure could take place - the court heard.

Ekweremadu, 60, is said to have had £20,000 on him on at the time of his arrest, according to prosecutors.

The child is now under the care of safeguarding authorities and the Metropolitan Police, officials say.

Ekweremadu and accountant wife Beatrice, 55, are charged with conspiracy to arrange or facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.

The senator was wearing a grey sweater while his wife was wearing a black and white knitted cardigan at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Prosecutor Damla Ayas said: 'It is conspiracy in relation to human trafficking offences for the purposes of organ harvesting. The victim in this case is 15 years old

'They the couple were interviewed at the police station. Both of the defendants have provided a prepared statement.

'Mr Ekweremadu in his prepared statement denied allegations of human trafficking.

'He said at no stage has he arranged transport for anyone with intention to exploit them.'

His wife similarly denied the allegations in her prepared statement, the court heard.

Gavin Irwin, representing Ekweremadu, said: 'There is no question this is a serious allegation. Mr Ekweremadu is a member of the senate in Nigeria.

'He has previously held an even more senior role as deputy president of the senate.

'He is a member of the bar in Nigeria. He is a principal in a law firm that bears his name.

'Those issues taken together go way beyond him being a person of good character…rather that he has led a blameless life as a public servant.'

Mr Irwin added that the allegations were 'nothing short of preposterous'.

Antonia Gray, for Mrs Ekweremadu, said: 'She has never been complicit or involved in any alleged illegal trafficking of any young person.

'She is a financial accountant…with an unblemished record.'

The couple have an address they could stay at in Willesden, northwest London, the court heard.

The prosecutor made an application to adjourn matters for 14 days.

Ms Ayas said: 'In respect of these offences Attorney General consent is required and the Crown require 14 days for that to be obtained.'

Magistrate Lois Sheard said: 'These are serious allegations and these matters are now adjourned until 7 July back here at Uxbridge.'

Ms Sheard remanded both defendants into custody ahead of their hearing next month.

The Ekweremadus are charged with 'conspiring to arrange or facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation....between 1 August 2021 and 5 May 2022 within the jurisdiction of Central Criminal Court'.

The investigation was launched by the Met's Specialist Crime team after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.

The Met Police has confirmed that the boy is safe and being looked after. Mr Ekweremadu was held with Nwanneka Ekweremadu in Britain this month.

Mr Ekweremadu has been an elected senator at the Abuja-based parliament since 2003 after moving into politics after years as a lawyer.

His wife, five years his junior, is an academic and doctor and also a major public figure in Nigeria. They are believed to have four adult children.

The Metropolitan Police has said the child, who is under the age of 18, at the centre of the alleged plot is in care.

Organ harvesting involves removing parts of the body, often for cash and against the victim's will.

The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022, the force said

These are lies. He was never said to be 41 yrs and wasn't only tested and he wasn't a match. Problem started when he noticed they will be going back to Naija and he was the one that went to the police with his cock and bull story and not what this story is saying.

But they weren’t going back to Nigeria. They were arrested trying to board a flight to Turkey to have the procedure done.

This came directly from the UK police. They gave these statements to the media. If it’s a lie then their lawyers should be suing the UK police and the news outlet rather than agencies in Nigeria, right? Why haven’t their lawyers released a statement denying these claims?

You should know many Nigerians don't reason logically.

As far as they are concerned, a man should be able to extend his own life by exploiting the life of another.

The ekeremadus have simply paid different bloggers to plant different stories

It is nothing we haven't seen before

This is how James ibori also produced documents back then to show it was a different ibori convicted for petty theft.

They are already gaming the Nigerian court of public opinion. Most Nigerians now believe that there is no harm no foul because David is an adult who was 'fully aware of what he was doing' and is an ungrateful thief who took the opportunity to set his 'benefactors' up

" after all we did for you - we brought you on an all expenses paid trip to the uk - we paid to xxxxx naira! we took ypu from the slums for a sightseeing trip in the UK! this is how you choose to repay our kindness to you!"

The memes about poor thieves being burned and rich thieves being celebrated are true.

There is no real difference between this and the frequently reported ritual organ harvesting.

The difference here is that this is white collar organ harvesting by a big man with a pen.

Authority stealing.

I’m sure you’re right because stories being produced from Nigerian bloggers are completely different from the stories from British media outlets that were given statements by the UK police.

Never trust any politician. How sure are we that even if they have succeeded in harvesting the boy's kidney, they won't in one way or another try to "silence"(kill) the boy.. I think most nigerians don't know how evil our politicians are..

Nevertheless I wish all the best for their daughter.

“ The doctor at the Royal Free in Camden became suspicious about whether the alleged victim was aware he was the donor of the kidney and whether he was 41 as his passport claimed.

The 15-year-old was given the passport of a 41-year-old in order to get into the UK, but did not know he was there to donate a kidney until he went a hospital appointment in London, a court heard yesterday”.

Very poor story.

Immigration officials both in Nigeria on exit and the UK on arrival would have stopped him, with a passport containing an age far older than his appearance. Immigration in Nigeria usually troubles first time traveling youths with fresh passports. If he went with Ekwerenmadu’s team, he would have escaped Nigeria, but stopped at the UK airport. How did he beat immigration on both sides.

The boy’s story makes it easy for us to understand. He claimed that he was offered a job. One would ask how someone he never met before offered him a job in England. Was there no offer made to him for a particular assignment? Surely that would be difficult to believe. He stayed in the man’s mansion in Abuja and enjoyed great food and drinks, according to him. What was he doing in a man’s house, who was not related to him and gave him such great life and offer.

I think the boy was offered the assignment by an Ekwerenmadu contact. He accepted it, looking at the amount of money available. If the court of Justice Ekwo allows it, then we can see the boy’s account details. Ekwerenmadu would not have been stupid enough to give him money in cash. That would be an evidence of some form of transaction between them.

The UK doctor helped the boy when he told him about the disadvantages of loosing one kidney. That made the boy change his mind. They called in the police and the boy saw his opportunity to remain in the UK.

Hopefully the courts, with evidences presented, would clarify this issue that the UK police, in a hurry to go to court, did not sort out.

The boy is in Care in the UK. Do you really believe the story that supposedly came from his mouth? Do you really think Child Welfare officials would allow him access to social media and other outlets to tell his story with a criminal trial pending? I don’t and even money wouldn’t make me believe it.

Nothing is contradictory. People simply heard that Ekwerenmadu attempted to harvest someone’s organ and they all crucified him instantly. Killing for ritual purposes is rampant in our society, so many then drew the conclusion that Ekwerenmadu was a ritualist. The press went straight to business. His political enemies went straight for his neck.

Now we have heard the story on the other side. The boy himself has told us his own side. Ekwerenmadu has filed a suit before Justice Ekwo asking for the release of vital information that would show the world that he was transparent at all times.

The boy’s neighbors have commented. The boy apparently changed his mind, having japa(d) from Nigeria and was requested to return home, as his kidney did not match. The UK police would try to protect the young man, at least for now. If he loses that case, na handcuff e go carry return to Nigeria.

Stop displaying this ignorance. A young man of 21 as a first time traveler, with a fresh passport, cannot pass the Nigerian immigration at the airport. If he is unfortunate to get stopped by NDLEA too, he instantly would be detained. If he escaped Nigeria, maybe by means of bribe, he would never escape the UK immigration.

The info was gotten from a statement by the police so... It could be a mistake, but still rest assured that the ekweremmadus are in shit.

This case is like a multilayered net. The first net is the question of his age, this one isn't much of an issue. The second is the question of his consent, did he know that he would have his kidney given to the girl; I believe that he did so this one mightn't hold. And lastly, what was the motive behind the donation? I can bet my two balls that the boy was paid, and this is illegal in many (if not all) first world countries.
