My friend the primary election has come and gone candidates have emerged in all the political parties, they were given a deadline to summit names of their running mate to inec, PDP met the deadly , APC and LP could not meet the deadline but summited names of people they picked as their running mate with a plan to withdraw those names and replace them with a better name , right now inec recognize those names as the legal running mate to those political parties, these political parties are only holding on to a time frame given to them to legally withdraw the first choice of their running mate which it can only be done if the running mate in question writes to inec that he or she is withdrawing from being a running mate to such political party, so you see masari and okupe by law are legal running mates and the only way out is for them to withdraw if they wish to, they can refuse to withdraw

This is where you're getting it wrong. It's not the placeholder that'll write INEC that he's withdrawing. For now the flagbearer still has power to write INEC that he's replacing his/her "placeholder". The running mate only has power after the deadline provided by INEC to replace a running mate. And this can be as a result of death, illness or any other thing, anytime between the deadline given to the flagbearer and the election.
