nlfpmod:Rubbish. You mean journalist should stop covering war? Before the BBC report most of us did not understand what was happening in the north. Of course no Nigerian media had the courage to cover the story. |

Reference: I suggest you read her write-up. She isn't averse to any expose on terrorism but stated that: projecting those guys who have no reason for killing innocent people and no remorse is reinforcing their invisibility status in thier community Her allusion to IRU vs BBC is on point. Why was there never an interview of bin laden justifying attacks on the west despite extensive reportage on terrorism by western media? Also the effect on victims who did nothing wrong, only to watch their captors boldly confessing their crime without consequences can only be imagined. She also didn't spare the government (if that was your concern) The video was not a matter of 'hearing from 2 sides with just cause', like Nigerdelta boys vs FG, Biafra vs NGN.... It was listening to a lunatic who wants to make money from killing and kidnapping people. Objectively, her write-up makes sense. |

1988–1994 British broadcasting voice restrictions. From October 1988 to September 1994 the British government banned broadcasts of the voices of representatives from Sinn Féin and several Irish republican and loyalist groups on television and radio in the United Kingdom (UK). The restrictions, announced by the Home Secretary, Douglas Hurd, on 19 October 1988, covered eleven organisations based in Northern Ireland. The ban followed a heightened period of violence in the course of the Troubles (1960s to 1990s), and reflected the UK government's belief in a need to prevent Sinn Féin from using the media for political advantage. I'm sure the IRA had more legitimate grievances than those barefooted murderers running around butchering men, women and children all over Nigeria and especially the NE. I wonder if the Brits would have taken kindly to NTA doing a documentary on the troubles in Ireland and giving a sympathetic voice to the IRA. |

Litmus: Should the ban by the British Government also extend to Nigeria? Has Nigerian and other broadcast media not been broadcasting the voices and propaganda videos of terrorist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP in the past? Nigerian governments - both state and federal had been rewarding terrorists with ransome and prisoners swap and even rewarding their members with recruitments into the Nigerian military. Sokoto State even rewarded the same terrorist kingpin shown in the BBC interview with a chieftancy honour. Kadaria did not criticise the Sokoto State or local government, but directs her anger at BBC 1 Like |
