You can’t “afford” what you do not produce…
Same thing with the US dollar rate, by the way.

We produce raw materials (crude oil)…
But FOOLISHLY import finished products.

That’s like producing cocoa or cow hide (kpomo)…
And wondering why you can’t “afford” chocolate or leather.

Do you know how much have been pumped to fix the refineries yet we still refine outside.

Are you aware that billions of dollars have been spent on security making Nigeria the highest to invest in security in Africa and yet our security is the worst.

These people are not saying the truth. Maybe they are looking for areas to say that they spent money.

If this government can feed school children during COVID lockdown nationally and go away with the lie. Go away with python swallowing money.

What other lie won't they get away with?

Government of lies. Last I checked they criticized JEG for paying subsidy and they said there was no need.

During JEG era fuel was #65, now it's #195 and they said they are not paying subsidy?

Crude oil price is falling globally as advanced countries find alternatives like electricity, solar etc which reduce pollution and cheaper while it's costly in the producing country.

We have spent billions of dollars to rehabilitate refineries and yet Nigeria is still refining refineries outside the country.

Government of lies and wastage.

Is Jonathan not a prophet

OrangeHokage:
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State yesterday wondered why the federal government was reluctant towards reducing the pump price of oil from the current N97 per litre it is sold in the country, even when the price has declined in the global market.

The Governor spoke while addressing hundreds of youths at the Lagos State After School Graduation Development Centre, AGDC, IGNITE Employability Project 5, Ikeja.

While disclosing that as at Friday, the Organisation of Petroleum exporting Countries, (OPEC) had on its website, pegged the oil price at $66.27 per barrel, he lamented that Nigerians were not receiving fair treatment from the government like citizens in other oil producing nations.

Hear the Governor, “Now, we should be enjoying cheap fuel if the price of oil has dropped globally. And even as we import the product, a major component has reduced in price. While this has reduced, the pump price of fuel in the country still remains the same. Something is wrong.

“If the price increases in the country when the price of oil goes up globally, then it should also reduce when the price of oil drops.

“I understand that I am not an economist; they (federal government) are the economist. But I have some logic and common sense to ask critical questions. For instance, if one buys flour at N10 per kilogram, and the bread is sold at N1 per loaf, if the price of flour drops, the price of the bread should also change”, he pointed out.

Fashola went on to request the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration to follow the example of other countries that have reduced the pump prices of oil products for their citizens as a result of declining global price of crude oil.

We said it in 2015, that by the end of the regime everyone concerned will be demystified. That the only claim to governance will be a few roads, rail lines and bridges.

Who remembers that. And are we correct today or not. They called us wailers while we warned them because we were alive in the 80's when this man ruled and we know him intoto that he does not have the CAPACITY to govern the Nigeria of today.

There were choices in 2014, alternatives even in the APC then but we were only looking for someone who could remove Jonathan, not someone who could govern any better, so we went for a person that was only popular because he was made popular BY PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW WHAT GOOD GOVERNANCE IS ALL ABOUT.

In buying into the hype we have brought on ourselves this scenario today.

The sad thing is that it appears lessons have not been learnt heading into another opportunity next year. We are still looking for people who can win rather than who can govern Nigeria effectively.

Honestly I still cannot see the value in an average PVC. Nigerians are yet to come to their senses and stop digging the pit they find themselves in.

Kashim Shettima's deputy Zanna died mysteriously in his hotel room, some eyewitness said he was poisoned.
This was the man who introduced civilian JTF in Biu Town which helped in totally eliminating Boko Haram from the town till date.
He died mysteriously but everything was shrouded from the media.

The greatest problem with this APC government is they keep explaining the issues to Nigerians rather than solve it.

For fvck sake, you are elected to solve a problem, don't explain to us, solve the damn problem.

Meanwhile,

Ihube - Uturu
Okigwe - Lokpanta
Abuja - Kaduna
Lokoja - Abuja (Low key)
Kontangora - Yauri
Funtua - Dutse
Auchi - Okene

These roads have become impassable due to the activities of bandits/kîdnappers.

There has to be something with the average Nigerian and excuses

Meanwhile, thanks lonelydora for the updates on the impassable routes. Lokoja-Abuja, Auchi-Okene, Abuja-Kaduna are all major routes.

What's now remaining if all these routes are no longer safe? shocked sad

At the end of the day, marketers had to increase prices to cover for the raised costs of fuel and the raised cost of transporting said fuel.

People who blast the marketers for doing so are not being realistic. If you worked for a private company, or owned one, would you keep prices of what service you sell, or goods you sell at rock bottom prices to help the poor....or would you sell at a profit so that you can pay taxes, pay costs, pay salaries, even pay for salary raises...and still have left over?

The better idea would be for subsidy to go, and prices to be controlled by the market. YES...I KNOW....PETROL WILL COST N700 AND THE PRICE OF YOUR FAVORITE BOTTLE OF GULDER WOULD RISE TO N90000 A bottle. .....but the thing is, keeping prices low in the name of subsidy makes things difficult for everyone...plus our budget deficit is growing....badly.

Nigerians have to choose their drug....either remove subsidy, and tolerate raised prices in return for more investment in refining, and eventual reduced price...not below 200 mind....or maintain the fiction of N40 petrol ...because Venezuela does it....and end up paying N10 trillion annually for subsides...for us and West Africa...while salaries don't get paid. And the naira goes to N1 million to one dollar.

You have not deregulated the price of fuel, yet yiu have increased the price from #87 as you met it in 2015 to #185 per litre?

You blame marketers for the recent hike in price of fuel yet Nnpc the government's own fuel station has increased their own price from #165 to #184?

What is this evil party taking Nigerians for for Christ's sake?

The problem is, subsidy makes it unprofitable to produce.

Fuel costs far more than N175 per liter to make. But because we want cheap fuel, we sell it at cheap price.

Who would invest in refining at home at the end of the day? Even Dangote who is doing it is taking a huge risk.
