Can you walk under oshodi bridge safely before Tinubu in 1999? Was their eko Atlantic? Was their light rail? Was there lekki free trade zone? Was their brtlane and buses Was their modern bus terminal in oshodi and various part of Lagos Was their emergency service and ambulance ? Was several state hospital built where people get subsidised healthcare Was the government school as modern as this ? Let’s call a spade a spade… The airport and sea port belongs to the And mostly headed by non yorubas.. most of the money generate belong to the federal government not Lagos state government.. this has little or no impact on the IGR of Lagos.. Obojuju: Who made or started the development of Lagos?! To my best knowledge, all credit should go to Lateef Kayode Jakande. This is what wikipedia has to say about him... [b].... His administration was effective and open and implemented the cardinal policies of his party. He introduced housing and educational programs targeting the poor, building new neighborhood primary and secondary schools and providing free primary and secondary education. He gave poor people's children education and many of them are now very prominent in the society today. He established the Lagos State University and the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos' house is named after the former governor. Jakande's government constructed over 30,000 housing units. The schools and housing units were built.[1] Some of the housing units include low cost estates at Amuwo-Odofin, Ijaiye, Dolphin, Oke-Afa, Ije, Abesan, Iponri, Ipaja, Abule Nla, Epe, Anikantamo, Surulere, Iba, Ikorodu, Badagry.[6] To fund some of the projects, Jakande increased the tenement rates and price of plots of land in affluent areas of Victoria Island and Lekki Peninsula and the processing fees for lottery, pools and gaming licenses. He also completed the construction of the General Hospital in Gbagada and Ikorodu and built about 20 health centers within the state. As a governor, he established 23 local government councils which were later disbanded by the military. He also started a metroline project to facilitate mass transit. The project was halted and his tenure as Governor ended when the military seized power on 31 December 1983. Even the military administrator of Mohammed Buba Marwa, did so much on road and dealt with criminals which BAT later adopted into all manner shenanigans of Agboro, area boys etc.. Below is Wikipedia comment about Warwa ...... From 1996 to 1999 Marwa was Military Governor of Lagos State. During his administration, he implemented programs such as "Operation 250 Roads" which greatly improved motoring conditions. He revamped public health institutions, and ensured that free malaria treatment that was available to all. His administration upgraded infrastructure in poor neighborhoods. He proclaimed an edict to regulate rents, stopping the "Jankara" method of eviction of tenants and ensuring that due process was followed.[2] Marwa became well respected in Lagos because of "Operation Sweep", a joint police and military venture that helped reduce Lagos' notorious crime rate.
