Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has urged Nigerian politicians to remove religion from politics.


Bello spoke while stressing that the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was a perfect match.

He spoke while appearing on Channels Televisions programme, Sunrise Daily.

According to Bello, Nigerians would be happy with the combination of APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as running mate.

He said: “On the issue of this Muslim-Muslim ticket, it’s high time we take religion out of politics. Nigerian politicians should be more mature; we should take politics out of it.

“Tinubu-Shettima is a perfect match. When you have a one-on-one with these gentlemen, you will know that we are coming up with a combination that Nigerians will be happy with.

“Tinubu and Shettima are a complete departure from what is happening now.”

Nigerians have decried and condemned the APC’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

Nigeria is an heterogeneous nation, and anyone who seeks to govern her must include that politics of inclusiveness. No law was written concerning Muslims and Christians occupying the number one seat. But for the importance of equity, fairness and justice. Any person seeking for the office of the president that put religion aside doesn't respect the politics of inclusiveness. The big issue here and I know Muslims especially from the northern will not and will never accept
1. A Christian taking over from Christian after eight years of Christian.
2. A Christian/Christian ticket after a Christian have served for eight years as a president
So those saying religion should be put aside are nothing but sycophants who support it because it is in their favor. Should have a rethink.
