Elmojiid: Lets cross fingers. Besides the incumbency factor, she's a very strong politician with a huge money chest. |

I may be wrong but I don’t see a lady getting elected as governor in any NW or NE state anytime soon. So, I don’t think Binani will win the election. 2 Likes |

Elmojiid:There is nothing like "North". The restrictions are religious-based. Adamawa is a mixed religion state, the only impediment of this woman is Atiku's candidacy. |

Re: Can Senator Aishatu Binani Become The First Elected Female Governor?)) by Aiel123: 2:00pm On Apr 27, 2023 |
garfield1:Working with technocrat at politicians expense will amount to sabotaging oneself. Who will be your field lieutenants and foot soldiers when the next election comes? Who will cover ground and hold their own for you? The technocrats? |
Re: Can Senator Aishatu Binani Become The First Elected Female Governor?)) by slivertongue: 2:29pm On Apr 27, 2023 |
Aiel123: It should be a mix of both but technocrats should be more in number because they will help improve the system and give the leader and the party a bragging rights. Its better for you to give politicians money for supporting you than power. Give power to technocrats. Buhari gave appointments neither to politicians nor technocrats. He gave it mostly to retogrades and desperate folks looking for survival |
Re: Can Senator Aishatu Binani Become The First Elected Female Governor?)) by Aiel123: 4:44pm On Apr 27, 2023 |
slivertongue:You have the answer. A balance would do. Not just sidelining the politicians that contributed to your success. Money to politicians? How much do you think they're worth? There's a reason why there's struggle for control of key ministerial slot and vital government agencies among the who is who class of any ruling party. |

Aiel123: Important and strategic ministries like health, finance, works, justice, education, petroleunlm, agriculture, power, aviation, transport etc would be manned by technocrats while special duties, water, women aff, trade, science tech, police affairs, fct, sports, lands and housing, info, communications etc will be left for politicians |

garfield1:Good then. You and Slivertongue said the same thing. My point was just that the political players must be compensated and not cast aside. |
Re: Can Senator Aishatu Binani Become The First Elected Female Governor?)) by slivertongue: 7:10pm On Apr 27, 2023 |
Aiel123: Politicians struggle to get appointed so as make money or plunder state institutions. Give politicians money by way of contract. The contract must be valued, bidded for, and supervised to avoid it been abandoned after the collection of mobilization fee. Any executive leader who gives more patronage to politicians will be popular but will fail the people, and any who abandons politicians will have crises in his hand. It is sad that Nigeria engages politicians in positions they have very little to offer. PDP started well until it derailed in the way to 2003 election. APC completely failed bcoz politicians took over all positions leaving the system prostrate. All the cry in the North had no impact on Buhari bcoss he engaged unknown qualities, desperate and hungry politicians. The killings &dire economic and security situation were hidden from him. The clerics who helped him to power were mostly quite, some were indifferent, the few who could speak out were denied access to speak truth to power. The top three candidates are private sector thinkers and would do better once the bourgeois consider govt policies friendly. |

slivertongue:I understand your view better now. Your submission is on point. You've succeeded in carrying everyone along and stopping loopholes that may arise on the part of politicians. Learnt something new thanks to you. |

garfield1: Trade? Give the lifewire of modern economies to politicians? No wonder Nigeria is retrogressing., Science & tech ain't for jobbers but for technocrats with vertical competence. Hope car manufacturers are gradually departing from fuel run engines. No city in Nigeria has functional water scheme because politicians with no competence are appointed to head the ministry. Internal policing has failed because we compensate politicians with the police affairs ministry &they steal the funds meant for the ministry, employ cronies &elevate nepotism in promotions. Communication is a huge revenue earner &key to national security. Sports in the developed world generates revenues, engages the youths &is a tool for foreign affairs. |
