It's a good start I really respect the man for showing that he is invested in Nigeria. Many more need to put their money where their mouth is. We as Nigerians need to invest with him.

Igboslayer:
And they are gladly annoucing this shameful deal. What stopped them from processing 1 million barrel per day themselves to flood the African Market with much needed finished petroleum products starting from the West Africa coast and earn more foreign exchange and make Nigeria prosper...this mentality of selling crude oil should be discouraged, Nigeria must start producing at all cost. All what they pay on subsidy in six months will build a very good refinery.

I hope this monopoly won't create a much unanticipated cost problem since the government have failed to do the needful to our existing refineries over the years.

I am aware they've started renovation at one or so

Children of hate will still complain about this.

Any good news is neither bad or fake to them.

Foolish people who feel only one man out of 200 million people can fix nigeria and nobody else.......61yr old man is a youth to them....the most annoying thing is the boldness of saying if PO should lose nigeria will suffer that always irritate me.

The statue they knee down to every Sunday has told them PO is the messiah not cownu anymore....lol

This same rubbish they did with cownu in there region and we are seeing the result ....now they want to try with the whole country.

We will be patiently waiting at the polls.....shebi all Nigerians want PO according to you dumb heads....you will be more shock that day than when you all saw your messiah cownu in chains.
Who is this one again?
Better take your medication asap.

Many of them can't build except like 4 or 5 because of capital. Even government is struggling to repair the one it has. But Dangote approach banks in Nigeria and abroad to build that refinery but we Nigerians don't know that it is capital intensive and takes a lot of time to build.
Modular refineries is the way. In eg india you see them dotted all over.
But naija, we always want things done on a grand scale.
If regulation is relaxed, approvals given to those Niger delta boys currently refining illegally, they will buy crude legally, maybe discounted, refine and satisfy the demand in that area under proper quality and environmental regulation.
But we like things on a grand scale to show we spent billions.
I remember a machine tool factory fgn proposed building in the 80s for millions, massive complex, meanwhile the supplier of tools in India operated from a 2 room workshop.

When refining starts fully, Nigeria would stop importing petroleum products, subsidy payments will be stopped and the downstream sector would be fully deregulated; i.e. Dangote (and other smaller refinery owners) would be permitted to fix prices. And guess what? Dangote (and the other refinery owners) would not sell for anything less than N300/litre.

Nigerians would hear 'wiiiii' when this happens, but we'll eventually get used to it (like everything else). Overall, the economy would be better for it; the improvement in the economy would be mega mega (I envy whoever would be president when that refinery starts full production).
So what do u suggest? We should continue making some people rich with subsidy crime?

NNPC should kuku sell Nigeria to dangote. No oil in the north, but they are giving southern oil to him for 20 good years
The news said NNPC agreed to sell 300k per day to dangote, not gift

At what rate? International rates or NNPC rates
Smart question.
If its at international rates then the effect of subsidy removal by then will still have full effects on Nigerians.
Make we just dey look...

Buy crude legally at what price and in which currency?
If they start selling to them at discounted naira prices, how then will Nigeria earn forex for your everyday needs
Also if they buy the crude at international prices ,whether in dollars or its naira equivalent, that is the death of their business because they will be highly outpriced by corporations that have better economies of scale and efficiency and they will still fall back to bursting pipes to steal crude.
That business exist only because the raw material(crude) is gotten by its operators for next to nothing(oil theft!) .
Put some real business costs to it and watch it die overnight.
They should be bullied out of business with weapons as they can't provide any economic value.

I think there are ways it could be done, selling to them not for the purpose of earning forex, that will be left to the big oil companies.
Do you know there are lots of marginal fields already drilled and capped bit not in use because they don't have the oil in commercial enough quantity to require further investments by the big cooperations? Such fields can be assigned. This is not new, I know a gas company that got its well, drilled and producing cooking gas for local use.
If there is will it can be done, Afterall, the guys there are already stealing the oil to refine.

Gas is different from crude, the moment you hit a gas reserve, it jumps out on its own.
The only difficulty in gas is storage cos its voluminous, that is why LNGs exists so they can liquefy them and reduce its volume ,making I easier to store and for the venture to be commercially viable.
Why else do you think crude producers flare gas? undecided
So you bringing in gas here to make an analogy isn't really correct.
Those Wells you're talking about were shut because market prices for crude can't support production from those Wells as they need more input(cost) to produce them.
So if you give bunkerers those marginal fields,it means their own crude will even be more costly than those in the markets per unit time, meaning the only way that marginal field idea of yours can work for bunkerers is if someone is bearing that production cost for them(FG).
Now tell me,where is the sense in this?
Everything isn't black and white chief, especially capitalism.
