but all these laws are being broken by Danfo drivers daily.. especially along Ajah route...

Question: why are they not being arrested and charged by the mobile court?

or is the law for only private cars..?

There's a reason they say knowledge is power. For by knowledge shall the just be delivered. Ignorance of the law is not a tenable excuse.
knowledge is power but not in Lagos where police and Lastma Would deliberately remove caution indicators and signs , so that you can be caught. When you have fallen into the trap, comments like , “ no excuses for ignorance of the law “ , would start flying everywhere

A bureau d’change operator who had emergency was being rushed to the hospital by the son, but was stopped by Lagos lastma . All the explanations by the son on the father’s critical health condition was on deaf ears. The dying man was driven to their office , confiscating the car. When they saw that he man was dead , they asked the son to go with with his dead father.

All those hailing Lagos state government for auctioning people’s cars are either not living in Lagos or have no car

We've seen Lagos State governors intercept security personnel several times on the road of Lagos.

These is commendable if i had flare for posting would av done it buh i think what will guide commuters better is installment of signs boards along major roads esp. connecting roads.
you can know all the offenses offhand and still enter one way or drive into a nondemarcated BRT lane without knowing, coming down frm mile2 there is a trap like that task force use to extort commuters every day.

Sign board is a better guide

Absolutely

Before using the road, know the traffic rules, to save lives.
Re: Lagos Traffic Laws And Penalties by Indispensable85(m): 1:35pm On Sep 17, 2022
kokaneprodigy:

The main issue is lack of adequate road signs particularly on roads that are one way.

Second issue is equality in enforcement, situation where commercial vehicles aka danfos will flaunt traffic rules with reckless abandon while the authorities do nothing but be hasty in arresting private car owners with even less offense is appalling.

On several occasions on Oshodi express you’ll see them drive against you and be flashing you to leave the path.

If you look at the cars in the field, you'll see that commercial vehicles are more. But more needs to be done.

Most Nigerians are lawless that's the reason. We prefer going to other climes to obey their laws, but prefer to violate ours.

How will others take us serious?

Lagos is an evil State. I bet if all the oil company and firms take their headquarters away from Lagos, they will task citizens for eating two corns, or yawning more than once.

Silly State.

If there are no signs indicating a road is "one way" or No signs indictating " No U turns" , what then? Who is at fault? The state or the road user?

So many lawsuits loading.

Fine of N100k is more appropriate for driving against one way plus a daily demurrage of N10k. Failure to pay up within a month should then lead to forfeiture of the car.

This seem fair enough. A year imprisonment plus forfeiture of car for a first time offender is too harsh.

The law should be reviewed.
To review is still to accommodate more crime and hit-and-run killings. The essence of the law is to stop people from commiting the crime. So many lives have been lost enough.
The law is toothless if we obey it.

Not quite sir. other states don't have as much vehicular traffici like lagos. The numerous trailers, commercial vehicles and cars are enough to destroy roads quickly unlike other states.

poor maintenance and corruption is what makes lagos have such high amount of bad road everywhere. I'm not talking of under developed areas yet

Nonsense

They should allocate fees to:

Not fixing bad roads

Not marking the road with proper road signs

Flood light not working at night

Avoidable traffic induced by potholes
