Nigeria LNG Declares Force Majeure As Flooding Disrupts Gas Supply by nlfpmod: 8:31pm On Oct 18, 2022
Nigeria LNG Ltd. declared force majeure on shipments from its Bonny Island liquefied natural gas facility after supplies were cut off by flooding.

The notice by the gas suppliers was a result of high flood water levels in their operational areas, leading to a shut-in of gas production which has caused significant disruption of gas supply to NLNG,” company spokesman Andy Odeh said by email Monday.

The announcement comes as NLNG, which can produce 22 million tons of LNG a year, was already operating at reduced capacity due to difficulties securing adequate feedstock. The company is a joint venture between the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Co., Shell Plc, TotalEnergies SE and Eni SpA. The shareholders are also the plant’s main providers of gas.

NLNG isreviewing the situation with gas suppliers to ascertain the extent of the disruption to its operations,” according to the statement. The company will try to “mitigate the impact of the force majeure to the extent reasonably possible,” it said.

Failure to prevent the flood disaster is not surprising, since Buhari decided to appoint his side chic as the minister of disaster.

Clogged drainages, and creation of impervious (concrete) surfaces during building, which increase run-off to stream and rivers, is a major contributor to the current flooding.

This is alarming! The NLNG is a major supplier of gas to the local market. Until I read this news, I was wondering why gas has become quite scarce in my location.
I'm not sure the NLNG has had issues with flooding before. This is a significant development.
If you can stock up on gas, please do so. Force majeure no be play.
One thing I like about Nigeria....head or tails, we are fu(ck)Ed.

I won't lie.

Things are only going to get worse....I'm not a negative person but what's coming is child's play to what will hit the world starting from next year..

If you're a family man on this platform,go and get enough foodstuffs and groceries for your family and make sure you save and don't spend anyhow cos the world is in serious trouble smiley
