Something that should be celebrated. Sadly you'll see the front page filled with negative comments.

Why?

And surprisingly, if you check you'll see that those making bad coments have a history of supporting Peter Obi.

So i'm wondering why is it that Obi supporters here do not want to see any good news about Nigeria??

I am not excited about this because there are clear training gaps in the NAF. that is why their planes keep crashing during routine training exercises

A drone would have done 80% of these jobs. All should have done was train technicians and engineers on how to build drones. We could have saved a lot of money there.

It's not good to comment on things you dont understand.

Not even the worlds most advanced militaries rely solely on drones.

And there are several drones included in the order. Shut up and face your books!

These are not things you make public anyhow...

They even talk about tactics against insurgency online too! So unwise!

Hit these bastards secretly and hard, then come explain the results to us! Simple!

This is a good one. But some of these aircrafts do the same thing, in many cases, as with the ones we already have. So why not standardize them by settling for one that does the job well, instead of buying different platforms from different countries?

I know Nigeria has the habit of spreading weapon purchases (like buying similar tanks from the UK and Russia as they did in the 70s-80s) but time has proven that such actions cause maintenance issues down the line. Countries like Russia, China, and lately, Turkey have proven themselves to be reliable partners compared to the US and UK that would refuse to sell us certain things for political reasons and France, which are our major competitor in West Africa.

Push ad start helicopters, non night vision, IR strobes or heat imagery enabled, outdated navigation systems and powering system that still use external compressors for ignition, abeg make them let a president like oladimeji bankole come as president or chidoka osita in .

It just gets really upsetting sometimes. Our military is out there doing their best yet those they protect can never find it in them to say a kind word or simply be appreciative.

You can't blame them, probably due to high expectations

It is one thing to take the helicopter....and another thing to buy spare parts, and get the right kind of people to maintain them....or even the right kind of people to fly them

That's what the Taliban are finding out, with the American equipment that fell into their hands from the previous Afghan government...they cannot use them because they don't have the right people, or if they do, the right kind of spare parts.

Boko is not going to find a good place to keep the copters, the right kind of folks to fly them, and the right spare parts...or even the right mechanics...

So the copters would be useless to them.

Would the choppers not also be useless to the military?

Order a useless way of thinking, ordinary Iran is selling drones to Russia. Why do you have a poor way of thinking? What is wrong with using the money to learn how to produce our own?

Can’t Nigeria military just buy 1K pieces of Iranian drones, those drones are cheap and doing crazy stuff then study some of it to produce our own.
That’s what Russia military is doing now, on Iranian drones, they are going to start mass production of it because it’s cheaper to produce than buying it from Iran.
Iran gave them the license
Re: NAF To Take Delivery Of 55 Fighter Helicopters In December by Nobody: 10:19am On Oct 28, 2022
we need more reconnaissance stealth drones, and UAVs, iranianKamikaze suicide drones, Turkish drones than actual military aircrafts, we need reconassise drones more than anything,

Iranian drones costs $20,000 /pcs, imagine when we buy 200s of them stored secretly in a military airforce base , buy the Turkish drone and store, buy Military grade missile launch systems and short range bombers

I hear you and agree with you but you forgot something very critical to your point.

Nigeria cannot produce steel...or even iron... We don't have NEPA... These are the foundation for any drone program like you mentioned as with out it no civilization.

Another way to look at it is no western country will will help us build a steel plant in Nigeria.. why you may ask? It's because if black African countries can make steel that means the western economies will go broke overnight.

So in a nutshell it's a policy of western countries to ensure we do not develop... Untill we get that carved in our heads we are just a stone on ground...we will never move forward or backward unless someone move us.

Many of these guys are dimwits by choice. You cannot help them. I simply glance through their comments and scroll on. I advise you do the same.

It's sad how we can hardly have meaningful conversations on Nairaland these days.

Modified

Oh it's Mr Kassandra grin grin grin. It's like we only disagree when the topic is electricity or petroleum. Lol

Do u really know the RoE concerning armed drones?
The use of armed drones need a lot of bureaucracies and agreements that will waste our time and could lead to sanctions on Nigeria...

Nah bro. I do not agree with the blame shifting. We're responsible for our failure as a people. Greed and stupidity have always gotten the better of us.

We can fix Ajaokuta and electricity if vested interest simply let go. But will they?
