Like seriously!!!... They rented/leased out their opay account for business.
Well, they will be fine... If they are truly innocent, they need to learn some sensible lessons.

So, they do not know who they rented their OPAY acct to... ?

They operate pos and a customer asked to transfer and have the money in cash from them, it's normal for pos operators, they are innocent, the matter should rather go to court, they shouldn't be afraid , it will only take a while to get resolved of the issue.
Police nah thief, why was the account not blocked, millions of people send money and do business with people they've never seen with their own eyes on earth here, so let the POS people just try to not be in a haste to leave.

You collect OPay pos and allowed a fraudster move money through it. Now you are caught and you are saying you leased the pos out. Okay, bring out the person who leased the POS from you.

They thought POS transactions can't be traced.

They aren't telling their elder brother the truth, they know about the transaction and the 500k each was their own share...

FIJ probed further and realised that the account that led to the arrest was an Opay account rented out for business.

“They have an Opay account, which they rented out for business transactions, and the alleged fraudster had sent the money into the account,” said Seyi.

“They own the account, but it wasn’t managed by them. The account was being managed by the person they leased it out to

“The bank verification number linked with the Opay account was traced to their own Kuda account, and that was how they were involved in the first place.

these are the kind of things Nigerians do casually and when you warn or advise them they look at you like you are speaking english. this is the same way some people will have business account and they will allow all manner of friends to use the account as long as they drop token. i should feel bad for these guys but na them do themselves

the irony is that they may completely liable for this

500k each is their share of the 5m stolen by their ringleader.

All those yahoo boys/girls in the university have now graduated into the system, stealing, scamming and rendering lives and businesses useless with their actions.

They're everywhere in the society, from the banking sector to the construction sectors.

Some of them set up audio farms, gathered money from genuine people looking for how to grow their money passively, then they used the money to buy properties for themselves including foreign citizenships. When it was time, they crashed the 'audio agric farms' and disappeared to these new countries of theirs.

The bastard we tolerated have now matured to torment the society at large.

So how come 500k each was sent to 2 different Accts when one acct could have taken all 1m?

The gist has holes... They are culpable to some extent.

This country is just getting worse everyday... Na to begin to avoid transactions with Nigerians totally at this point.

What of money won from bet. Like a very large sum of money. And the winner would love to transfer some to his siblings or parents account back home for some projects. Using the regular bank accounts though.

Money from bet is legit, and clearly documented by the awarding betting company...

No issues with what you do with it or to whom you transfer it to.

Money from scam can never be fully or properly documented as legit... Same with drug money... No matter how you try to launder it.

If the authorities choose to follow the paper trail closely, everyone is in trouble.

It may not be necessary going to the police. All you need is to inform the bank IN WRITING and let your letter to them be DULY acknowledged.

You can go to sleep with the acknowledged copy of your letter.
