Can't stop laughing about Rwanda being a bigger shithole than naija grin grin

Maybe Nigeria is not as bad as we think.
Men most African countries are no go area o. Forget all the pr online. If one can't even succeed in business in Nigeria is it in a country with 2 million people and per Capita income of 500 usd per head that the person will make it. Even Nigeria in it's shithole status per Capita income is 2000 usd and over 200 million people. Let's even assume that 90 percent live in extreme poverty. 10 percent of 200 million is 20 million still a sizable market. The only African country better than Nigeria is south Africa.

I am talking of sub saharan Africa so that excludes the first 3. Senegal is a shithole and also very expensive to live in. Kenya might be doing okay but cant still be compared to Nigeria. I have been to morocco. Solid european level infrastructure but I didnt live long enough to see how good the economy is.

Mauritius is okay but its economy is powered by tourism so fewer jobs and not much business opportunities. Rwanda is a bigger shithole than Nigeria. Forget the PR.

You know the problem with Nigerians is that we don’t travel and we don’t even bridge the ignorance by reading. Months back an acquaintance went on and on about this Rwanda hype and even after explaining to him and sending links to publications - he was still arguing!

A former colleague in tech migrated to Rwanda, he ran away in less than a year. Told us that Rwanda is a dead-zone with hungry citizens. They dare not complain or talk about their struggles as it would go against the government and can land someone in jail.

I happened upon a housing group for East Africans. There are a few Nigerians there and I tell you, the things we see as lower middle class, they see it as LUXURY!!! I say no wonder Naija men dey use them catch cruise, their eyes never open. A one eyed man is king in the land of the blind. cheesy cheesy

I used to assume Nigeria was the worst country in the world till I joined an NGO a few years back and got the opportunity to travel across Africa and men these guys are doing way worst than us. My village in Abia is even more conducive to live in than a lot of these countries. Economic activity is zero, poverty is like 100 percent. You can smell and see poverty everywhere immediately you land. Me I dont rate any african country except south africa and I wont even migrate there sef.

Burundi that's one of the most wretched places on earth. Watched a documentary on the country and even an Android phone is considered a luxury. A bulk of the country still uses old non smartphones. Per Capita income there is 310 usd per head per year. A very terrible place even northern Nigeria is better than.

You have to make your choices... Kenya is not a good buy for me... I went there for vacation then... I had to use my airport taxi to drop off an Ethiopian airline staff... she was bitterly complaining that she had to trek home everyday because of high cost of transportation. 4million naira is about 630k Kenya shillings, you can spend that in months because of standard of living is high. Yes they have light also note that accommodation is extremely high. No jobs, thousands of their citizens searching for job everywhere... forget the minimum wage stuff which amount to about 78k naira.... thats amount to nothing when you convert it to shillings..... just plan yourself well. Nigeria is not bad at all. Forget all these bad talks. Travel outside this country, just within some Africa countries, you will turn celebrity over there. Ethiopia same thing... hungry full there like eeh...

I jus pity some Nigerians. Like you said bro, if you wan japa, japa with sense. I've been to Kenya twice on vacation and another time in an official capacity. Compared to Naija, Naija still better by far. Cost of living in Nigeria is still way better, though their electricity supply is better than Naija. Dem dey take their light too though they bring it back sharperly compared to Nigeria.

I get close Kenyan friends wey no mind to japa to Naija if dem fit find work here sef. Na only SA better pass Naija in Africa, in my opinion, and that's even marginally sef coz I personally no fit live for SA even if you beg me, no thanks to their xenophobic tendencies. Besides, dem don begin ration their electricity for SA too.

As pesin wey don live for Yankee before, none of those places (Kenya o, SA o, etc) dey freak me, asides going on vacation or business. But as they say, the grass always seems greener on the other side.

I was in Kenya in 2015, guy I must tell you this people are not friendly o.

I must advise you if you will agree to not travel to any African country except South Africa if you don't want to suffer like their biblical Job.

I have traveled to 4 African countries and I can tell you no difference between all of them, poverty everywhere, mosquitoes everywhere.

I will advise you to huzzle more and save up and travel to a better country than Kenya.

Guy am telling you out of experience, forget this people telling you to go bla blah blah they have not stepped out before if they do it will show in their comments.

Or another option because I know you have made up your mind to travel, try cote devoir you don't need to fly to get there, the people are friendly in short I can say they are the friendliest in Africa

Things are better there than that Kenya, and is even more developed.

My approach to this subject is different. I believe any country can offer one a platform to flourish in business regardless of whether you perceive it to be better or worse than your home country.

A few years ago when South Sudan was a newly independent state, all the international bodies and NGOs trooped to Juba and there arose a demand for certain goods and services such as office appliances, stationery, food delivery services, cleaning services, pharmacy shops, salons, barbershops, etc. Many Ugandans and Kényans rushed to Juba to engage in business and those who went there early would return home to build mansions and expand their other businesses back home. They made their money so quickly in a country that seemed hopeless at the time.

Citizens of these other countries left their homes for the simple reason that they were going to fill certain demands in Juba, and not because South Sudan was a "better" country. They saw major gaps and travelled up there to fill them. The OP isn't clear about what he intends to do while in Kénya, but if it's legit business, he should try it out. I just hope he's not planning to engage in one of those casino/strip joint type of hustle because everyone knows the kind of cocaine transactions that happen over there.

Relocating to a new country or city is like settling down with a spouse. It can go either way. It will either favour you, or frustrate the hell out of you. And just like a spouse, the same country can offer two individuals two different experiences.

Your points are valid. However, the issue I have is the frenzy to japa without much thought, based on the premise that 'anywhere is better than Nigeria'. Japa is as old as time itself so I don't see why a big deal should be made about it. My comment was directed at japa based on that 'Naija is hell on earth' narrative.

It's ok to japa without painting Nigeria black to justify one's emigration goals.

At least they have 24 hours power supply and good roads, if Egypt was located in a rainforest geographical area like Nigeria, with our enormous oil, they'll definitely have been doing more than South Africa self.
