A building is made up of so many parts. The door is an important part that should keep us indoors and safe, making us sleep well to enjoy other features of the house. Of recent there has been an influx of imported security doors of all shapes and sizes. It now seems as if our people are incapable of making ordinary doors or if we lack artistic ideas and the creativity to make security doors.

Lets look at these few ones and all should keep adding more everyday, wherever you find them. I intend to give my clients some ideas as to what to expect in terms of prices when I start to finish their houses, or mine. We shall also do a price comparison between foreign doors and local ones with all the pros and cons of both types.

For this simple design window protector done with 1'' square pipes, 4x4ft, it could be done with N3,800 each. But we have some better designs out there.

And in case you need added thickness for your window protectors, just pay N6,000 for this 2x1'' square pipe design.

Spyder like i asked on the other forum have you come across windows with in built burglary.

These ones are from the albums, jobs done before for customers, but we can still learn more designs from them.

No, since most windows are done in aluminum frames and most burglary proofs are done with iron, will be difficult, but not impossible to see such, will ask around later.

This one is a transparent design built with a glass exterior, but its tinted and you cannot see anybody inside. For a 'cheap' price of N130,000, you can walk away with this one. Good soup na money kill am

N220,000, This is a combination of the glass and the metal. It has two doors fitted as one in a 9'' frame, the waterproof cover somehow covers the beauty of this door.

Spyder, the picture/door you quoted/posted for N24,000 look exactly like what I paid N43,000 with pleading in Lagos. Na wa oh! This your prices is non-comparable.

Now Spyder880, with  the locally produced Security Doors, what is responsible for the wide variance in price? Is it just due to the intricacy of the design alone or design and the type/structure of materials used? They are all metal doors fashioned from metal sheet/plate right? Is there anything to particularly look out for in terms of material type eg thickness to determine quality which can influence price?

How durable are these doors (local) if exposed to the elements like heat, sun, rain? If one's living room and to a larger extent the security door (made of metal) is constantly cooled from the inside by A/C and constantly heated from the outside by the element (sun), will the inevitable contraction and expansion have a long term effect on the door? like if one went for a cheap one? Do you have any experience (case) where these doors due to one form of reaction or another, no longer align with the frame that you need to slam and shove just to close the door? How often do the hinges need oiling? I hate squeaking door!
