I really feel for the Ekweremadus.

Paternal and maternal instincts at play.

Any sane parents can fall into this divine trap because most can't stand their children dying before their very eyes except if there is absolutely nothing they can do about it.

Besides, even if they are truly guilty as charged, they weren't planning to commit murder at least. It was just a case of understanding between them and the young lad. Though I ain't supporting such extremity, it's just a classical case of how parents can go crazy because of their children.

My brother, any parent will do the same.

We hate Nigeria's politicians including Ekemadu, if I see him in one corner, he won't come out alive. However, he is not as faulty as most of us and the world is made to believe. Any parent will do anything to save a dying child. May God not put us in a tight situation of life and death

Justice is what we need. If it happened in Nigeria the whole thing will be turned upside down. Nigeria is a country where nothing works.

They are not criminals.
They are just concerned of their daughter health to be restored.

He might likely be sentenced to either 10 or 15 years in prison, considering what politicians have turned the health care system in Nigeria to, l have no single pity for this criminal called Ekweremadu, the same fate awaits all the useless politicians in Nigeria from 1979 to this current zombie in Aso Rock and his band of thieves, who have rendered The health care system in Nigeria to a mortuary center, Karma is patiently waiting for all them to execute judgement on them, next news jare grin

1.Well, health care in Nigeria is bad..

2.However, Nigeria has at least 8 centers where kidney transplants can be done. They cost a lot of money, but it can be done for N20m to 25 million .In Ekweremadu's backyard...UNTH has had a kidney transplant center since 2018

3.Even if our healthcare system was 'working' very well, organs are very scarce commodities (which is why many doctors and nurses and even pharmacists are screaming at Nigerians to watch their health). In working systems like the US and UK, waiting lists for organs are long(in the UK...it is 2-3 years, plus if you are lucky to find a living donor, it means you wait at most another 6 months). If we had a working healthcare system...we would still have lenghty wait times for organs...and the Ekweremadus might try to game the system by doing the same...only this time in Nigeria (and they won't be prosecuted, since there are no laws against organ trafficking here).

(Right now, scientists are working on growing organs from stem cells in your body....but a kidney from a few stem cells is still decades away)

I feel nothing for them.

How many people have died because they refused to build decent hospital in igboland?

They commit the crime, they should serve the sentence.

I think the major lesson here is not even about who is telling the truth or not.

But keeping one's house in order.

If Nigeria had world class hospitals, he wudnt need travel out.

Honestly I really felt bad to the plight of this man his family because I'm a father I can understand their feelings. In a very honest statement their intention wasn't evil or to destroy the lad life only deal gone wrong and they fell prey its quiet a pity.

As you said I'm not supporting organ harvesting but their is no way that boy wil tell me h is not aware what he is coming to UK for, did he want to tell me if he was taken to India or Cambodia for the operation will he accused this family? I guess No.

God will help them at this point.

It's a lesson for all to learn from. Paternal and maternal that should play here is that no matter the position God puts you never I repeat should you treat any man's child bad.
Do you know how many orphans ,motherless babies ,uncles aunties the less privileges the ekweremadu must maltreated badly and denied them of their right ?
My brother a lot of today have been suffering the deeds of our parents because of their selfish attitude . As I'm I've been out of job since 2020 no thanks to my boss whom I trusted with my life that she will helped and assist secure a permanent job ( because I ve been a contract staff for yrs) this woman used me at the end of the day she brought in her church members who were less than a year and then told me the governor of the state said non indigene should be employed lo and behold her church members were not from the state .
As I speak to I wake up at times and curse her and her grand children because she has only one child but I still dont care I curse her .

Yeah, and they should have had one of the daughter's siblings donate a kidney, not some random poor boy.

Having a sibling donate a kidney reduces chances of rejection by the recipient's body.

(One American sports star got a kidney from his cousin, another from his brother).

True, we should have world class hospitals, but kidney transplants have been done in Nigeria since 2006 at least.

And who knows he may die untimely
exactly! If he disturb too much sef they'll even waste him and move on with their lives...the boy use brain for them

Yes ur right. But u see even if they open a hospital for transplant today, they always fail to understand that medicine is a continuous journey and therefore advancements can only be possible when the support continues.

All over the country we have different surgery centers but most have remained the same for the last 10 years or more.

Politicians wud rather build a plaza worth 2 billion naira than build specialist hospitals.

They forget they can make serious returns frm such hospitals too while still serving humanity

This is the mindset of a person who has been abused by the Nigerian system. Not a sane person.

You echoed the exact thoughts of the Ekweremadus before they even got the Osamata dude. They went ahead with the decision having thought through it like you did in your comments.

Organ harvesting and trafficking is worse than we see it in Nigeria. Remember all those African immigrants held in cages in Libya a couple of years ago? Thats the next option these "sane" paternal or maternal role models of yours would have gone searching for organs.

Brought who low?

Did the guy appear to the Senator in his dreams and say 'Pick me?'

Plus the evidence goes way beyond the small boy talking. A lot of evidence was gotten from the medical doctor who was acting as the broker. This even led to the medical doctor being exposed as having paid for his own transplanted kidney....which in turn has led to a mini-furore over how a UK hospital was taken in.

Finally, the problem started when the doctors they saw got suspicious. It was when the boy ran to the police that their suspicions were confirmed.

Well, the support does continue for kidney transplant patients. (I work in medicine and have seen a few for follow up care...mostly they see a nephrologist)...here in Nigeria. The issue is cost....it is an expensive venture.

Even if things were working in Nigeria, it is not easy to get a donor organ. That is why we medical people are shouting up and down that you should eat healthy, exercise and go for regular checkup.

P.S

We actually need more primary health care centers than we need specialist hospitals...so as to reduce pressure on the specialist hospitals (and yes, under democracy we have had some hospital bulding, and some serious minded senators have brought bills for establishment of federal medical centers in their areas of representation)

Sorry about the pain you feel. But why should you trust a human being, with your life? They aren't God and can let you down. Try and remove bitterness from your heart, and pray for your enemies, not curse. God will provide a beter job for you when you do.

This your statement is so true of a typical Nigerian. Poverty stricken thoughts. Same clime it’s wrong to explore human organs. But here in Nigeria it’s normal because the parents love their child. Very stupid statement. So many of you can’t live in same clime.

Most parents who can afford it will tow that line in Nigeria and that's the truth. However, the guy should have just said no to their proposal and moved on IMO
