In 2014, Nigeria was buying brand new T-84 tanks from Ukraine. A few years later, Ukraine is begging Poland for used T-72 tanks. You can imagine. The worst part is that Poland was looking to upgrade those same tanks in Ukraine in 2018 because they were outdated and only Ukraine could upgrade them into war-worthy equipment. Now, the tables have turned and Ukraine has to beg for them from Poland.

Ukraine, a top weapons manufacturer that sold modern tanks, armored vehicles, missiles, aircraft, and ships to everyone, has been turned into a beggar. Begging for the lower quality stuff than what it can manufacture.

One of the first casualties of the war was the Ukrainian weapons industry. Russia destroyed a lot of them at the beginning of the war. In one bombing, Russia even destroyed Azerbaijan-owned fighter jets undergoing repairs in Ukraine.

That said, Ukraine has been using these Boko Haram-style pickups (technicals, as they call it) a month or two after Russia invaded and the numbers have been increasing ever since. They are also becoming more prominent on the battlefield. Shame. May we not be foolish.
