President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the recent wave of violence in Benue State, calling for the perpetrators to be found and dealt with swiftly under the law.

In a statement released on Saturday by presidential spokesman Garba Shehu, Buhari expressed his grief and sympathy for the families of those who lost their lives in the attacks.

"The entire nation stands united in the fight against the forces of terror and evil," Buhari said.

The President also directed the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force, and military commanders to enhance surveillance in the affected areas and review security management immediately.

The latest attack occurred on Wednesday when suspected herdsmen invaded Umogidi village of Entekpa-Adoka district in the Otukpo Local Government Area, killing at least 46 people, including the thirty-three-year-old son of the Chairman of the local government.

The same village had suffered another attack by suspected herdsmen just 24 hours earlier, during which three people were killed.

In another incident, suspected herdsmen attacked an Internal Displaced Persons (IDP) camp at Mgbagh, Nyiev Council Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in many deaths.

The killings in Benue State have caused outrage across Nigeria, with many calling for the government to take more decisive action to end the violence.

The conflict between herders and farmers in Nigeria has been ongoing for years, with thousands of people killed and communities displaced.

First time in history buhari will condemn terrorism in Benue.

At the end nothing will be done.

Next week another set of Benue people will die. Mark my words.

The death quota is at least 40 people weekly.
