Besides, how do you justify that you were taught a language for over 12 years (nursery to university) but couldn't learn it?

Why should an Asian speak proper English? Is it their country's official language? You have no reason not to speak good English as a Nigerian, just as a Chinese person has no reason not to speak good Chinese.
