The President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to name immediate past governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola as his Chief of Staff.

A key leader in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who is a close associate of Tinubu disclosed this to worldviewafrica on Saturday.

According to him, Oyetola and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila were the top two contenders for the position but the lot fell on Oyetola who lost his bid to secure another term in office as Governor of Osun State.

He added that aside being someone Tinubu trusts so well, Oyetola got the edge having served in that capacity before as a former Chief of Staff to his predecessor, Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

" The position of Chief of Staff is likely going to Oyetola. It could have been Gbajabiamila but since the Supreme Court judgment has declared that PDP should remain in power in Osun, then Oyetola is the likely candidate for the position".

" The Chief of Staff is a very sensitive and strategic political position. He should be the first to see the president in the morning and the last to see him at night. He Must be someone the president has implicit trust in".

"Aside his experience as a former Chief of Staff, the APC needs a leader in Osun State who will keep the party together now that it is in opposition to the PDP . Oyetola will use his position as Chief of Staff to the President to rally the party members together and put the APC on a solid footing in Osun State" he said.

Fashola would be wasted in that position. He needs a critical Ministery/portfolio to then be given the latitude to work properly as Tibubu usually does.

Oga Fashola wants to retire sef, so he need that position, since it's not too stressful and he can monitor and ensure performance, especially when President Buhari has set a Precedent that the Ministers should go through the Chief of Staff office, you need someone who has experience in all area of Government that you can't sweet talk him with Rakandede .

Fashola is a focused technocrats who loves working, transforming and succeeding. If he wants to retire as you say, that may be because he is tired of the brinkmanship he had to endure in office under a President with his own hidden sectional agenda.

Fashola will jump at the chance to work under Tinubu because under BAT, you truly get the job and chance to perform, transform and leave your mark which Fash is always drawn to. This is why he is fondly called a workaholic.

We will see sha. You may be right. I just think Tinubu knows Fashola's strength while the man himself will always remain happy to work to his own strenght under the right President.

this is not a Yoruba nation or presidency where all key positions will be given to only those that tinubu wants. he will consider many factors and also consider those who really contributed immensely. i won't be shocked if all key positions are shared equally or even given to the north because they kept to their word and supported Tinubu even against their kinsmen
