How can you know this? The shop owners accused the custom officials for the seizure without even setting eyes on them during the so called operation. Let's wait for the Customs side of the story before accusing them of robbery. Importation of rice remains banned until lifted and all illegal rice thus imported is subject to seizure without compensation

Uncle I repeat no legal agency will break into a person's place of business at night to cart away goods and services in the name of a seizure... That is robbery plain and simple.

I'm sure you didn't read the part of the story where the customs bosses denied knowledge of this operation so before you talk plenty go and read the story again.

Uncle no official operation will include attacking shops at night, breaking in and carting away goods.

That's robbery plain and simple.

If it's a genuine operation perhaps to impound contraband then it should have been done in the daytime with the necessary police support present to ensure security of their officials while discharging their official duties.

In my opinion this is either a case of:

1. Rogue customs officers, OR
2. Thieves masquerading as Customs officials to avoid detection.
Good point. Let's wait and hear what the custom authorities have to say on the matter

See yeye people that their gross incompetence at protecting our borders against petrol smugglers was one of the major reasons they are suffering us with subsidy removal.
Custom benefited from it. Though, theirs is a piece of cake compare to what NNPC move been the sole importer who, import the product, record the quantity brought in & also pay themselves the subsidized amount. Imagine paying yourself for a job done & assessed by you with the community money in your care.
