What Will Become of PDP, Labour Party If APC Gets Minority Leader, Shehu Sani Reveals

A former lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Central, Senator Shehu Sani, has revealed what will become of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party, if the All Progressive Congress, APC get the Minority Leader in the 10th National Assembly.

Sani said the signs are there that the ruling APC wants a Minority Leader that will be a stooge to them and that will be the death of the PDP and Labour Party if that should happen.

He stated this during an interview with Arise Television on Monday, June 26.

The former lawmaker alleged that the PDP has mortgaged their responsibility of the main opposition to the Labour Party.

He said:
“The signs that are coming is that they (APC) want to have a Minority Leader that will be a stooge of the ruling party, then it is done, it will be the death of the opposition (PDP) in the National Assembly.

“Why you hear more of the Labour Party today doing the opposition, it is that PDP has mortgaged their responsibility of the main opposition to Labour Party.

“Nobody is saying you should go to the National Assembly and fight the executive, but we know fully well that the dignity of the National Assembly is centered in its independence. There will be no independence if APC gets everything.

“The Minority Leader in a parliamentary system is like the alternative government. But, if we have a Minority Leader that will play the role of the opposition, it will be better for the country,”

PDP do not know how to play opposition party politics. If they were up and doing, APC would not have gotten free with all the rubbish they have been doing in the past 8 years

PDP is dying slowly

The opposition started it.

It is the tradition that opposition parties will allow the party with the majority in the Senate and House of rep to easily elect its preferred members as Senate President and Speaker respectively.

But every election round, instead of behaving with dignity, PDP will usually plot with other minority parties to vote for a member of the APC that APC doesn't want as Senate President or Speaker.

Now APC wants to pay you guys back by supporting a member from the opposition other than PDP's own preferred candidate, as Minority Leader, you are complaining it will be the end of democracy.

Why didn't PDP do the right thing in the first place?

As it stands now, wike is one leg in APC, and one leg in the PDP. So, if his boy (stooge), hon Chinda, becomes the minority leader of the House of reps and another APC sympathiser senator clinches it in the Senate, it is as good as a one-party (apc) legislative leadership.
